“Kill him, Wilbur.” the voice whispers into his ear.

Wilbur feels like he’s about to puke.
He stares at Quackity, the shorter male is turned away from him at the moment, getting rid of his mic.

“You got this...” the commander continues. “Do it for the agency. Do it for your parents.”

Wilbur slowly looks at the gun in his pocket, then at Quackity who is stomping the mic to bits so that the tracker is completely destroyed.
The taller assassin slowly pulls out the gun and starts to raise it. He hesitates to rest his finger against the trigger, his hand is shaking so much that it’s hard to be accurate.

Oh god... oh no...

Wilbur’s breathing grows shallow, his heart is pounding so loudly that he can hear it. He tries to steady his shaking hand so that he can aim. His finger slowly rests on the trigger, but he doesn’t press down.
He feels like the whole world is watching, waiting for what he’s going to do.

But Quackity is done smashing the mic, he turns around to face Wilbur again.
The taller male watches the blood drain from his partner’s face as he sees the gun pointed at his chest.

“W- Wilbur?” Quackity asks. “What are you doing...?”

“She told me to do it,” Wilbur whispers.

“But you won’t,” Quackity says, knowing he means the commander. “You won't, right?”

“Stay... stay still,” Wilbur replies.

Quackity slowly takes a step closer. “Wilbur... what are you doing?”

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” the taller male whispers.
He tries to press the trigger but his finger doesn't want to push it down. His hands are sweating and feel very weak.

“Wilbur?” Quackity asks.

Wilbur doesn’t move. He watches as Quackity’s hand drifts to where his own gun is hidden.
Shoot him, shoot him...
His finger starts to press on the trigger, then with one quick motion he pushes it down.

Quackity POV

Quackity straightens up, turning around to face Wilbur again, but what he sees sends him into shock; the other man is holding a gun... his lover is pointing a gun at him.

“W- Wilbur?” Quackity asks as fear courses through him. “What are you doing...?”

“She told me to do it,” Wilbur whispers. He’s holding the weapon shakily, his face is very pale.

“But you won’t,” Quackity says, desperately hoping that the other man is only pretending. “You won't, right?”

“Stay... stay still,” Wilbur replies.

Quackity debates what to do, he has to snap the other assassin out of this so that he will be brave enough to run with him.

“Wilbur... what are you doing?” he asks, slowly stepping closer. He is very wary of the gun pointed right at him.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” Wilbur’s finger is rested on the trigger.

“Wilbur?” Quackity asks.

He thinks about grabbing his own weapon, but he’s worried any sudden movements will make the other man shoot. His hand slowly drifts to where his gun is hidden.

Please... please.
I don’t want to die here.

Suddenly Wilbur’s hand tightens on the gun and his finger presses lightly on the trigger. Quackity is about to stop reaching for his gun because of the danger... but suddenly a shot rings out.

A burst of white-hot pain spreads throughout his whole body. He struggles to take a breath, it doesn’t work... instead he tastes blood, lots of warm blood.
He only stays standing for a bit longer, being deftly aware of his body hitting the cold cement. His cheek rests against the cool ground.
Brain feels foggy... eyes want to close.

A shadow casts over him and he thinks he hears a choked sob.
Quackity tries to move, tries to say something... but nothing is working. He is too weak, the blood is bubbling up in his mouth every time he tries to take a breath.
He barely registers that he is dying before the world starts to get fuzzy. He feels like he’s floating away, his cheek is still pressed against the cold cement; the only thing keeping him grounded.

There’s one last try for a breath, unsuccessful, then the world finally fades out.

Wilbur POV

He stands there numbly, staring at the other assassin's lifeless body. His thoughts are racing and his heart is pounding, yet he feels nothing at all really.
Something about it seems fake, the shot can’t have struck true, Quackity can’t be gone.

He’d done what the commander wanted.

A pool of blood is slowly spreading around Quackity’s body, there is also blood coming from the corner of his mouth.
Wilbur had missed the heart and had punctured his lung instead, it was a mistake. Maybe pressing the trigger was a mistake too.

He reaches up, tapping his mic.
“It’s done.”

There’s silence on the other end for a long time, then finally the commander hums softly.
“Good job Wilbur, you did amazing,” she congratulates him. Her voice is a calm, satisfied purr.

Wilbur isn’t really focused on her right now, he is still staring at Quackity’s body. Perhaps he’s waiting for the shorter male to breathe again, to pick himself up, to yell at him for what he did.
Some part of him feels like screaming, crying over the loss.

I had to do it, he thinks. I had to.

“We can pick you up now,” the commander says in his ear. “And we will dispose of the body.”

“Ok, thank you...” Wilbur replies. His voice sounds small and shaky as he speaks.

Finally he turns away from Quackity’s still form, his throat feeling tight all of a sudden; it’s like he’s going to cry.
But there is a noise from the rooftop that catches his attention and he turns back around. Someone is watching from up there, he can see the shadowed figure from here.

Wilbur doesn’t have the strength to raise his gun again.
He meets the person’s gaze, seeing their horrified expression.
Finally he registers who the person is; Luzu had made it to meet them in this spot... he saw everything.

Wilbur slowly glances back at Quackity’s lifeless body, then back at the assassin from the other agency.
Words form, but he can’t manage to speak them.
I’m sorry...

The other assassin takes off running and Wilbur doesn’t follow, he feels like he is going to puke. The faint scent of blood is in the air, and there’s nothing he can do but wait by the body for the helicopter to arrive.
