He finally sits up straighter and manages to eat something before he's ready to hear what the commander has to say.

He's partially worried right now about what she's done with Quackity. It doesn't make any sense why the shorter assassin wouldn't be in here to see him.

"Alright," she murmurs as she steps near. "Are you ready?"

He nods. "Yeah, I am."

She smiles a little before she says it.
"We have new evidence on those who killed your parents."

Wilbur's mouth falls open in shock. "You know? You finally found out who?"
He's waited fifteen years for this moment, the time he finally gets to have justice.

"Not quite yet. But we have what they look like. They were old friends of your parents, jealous of the status they had, and the freedom of leaving the agency to raise you." the commander tells him. "If we continue to work together, we can find them."

"That's amazing!" Wilbur exclaims. "Holy shit! I mean, sorry for swearing, but thank you so much commander. This is great news for me," he dips his head.

"Your parents were some of the best at this agency. You have followed in their footsteps well," the commander compliments him. "I am glad I will not lose you like I've lost them."

Wilbur suddenly remembers Quackity... they are going to run away together. The commander will lose him, she will be disappointed and hurt yet again.

She sees his hesitation and steps a bit closer. "Is there something I need to know?"

"I..." Wilbur feels her presence looming over him and he starts to panic. "I- I'm just worried I'll get killed too."

She doesn't seem satisfied.
"I questioned your partner." she tells him.

"Questioned?" Wilbur asks.

"Mhm, he's very bold, too bold," the commander taps her foot in annoyance. "He openly defies me even with the threat of death. He doesn't think you will do it."

Sounds like Quackity, Wilbur thinks.

"You will do it, right?" she asks seriously.

He starts to panic again at her intense gaze.
"I... I... um, yeah, I won't fail you."

"Good, because if you do fail me... I don't think it will be beneficial to give you the reward of avenging your parents." her tone goes slightly threatening.

Wilbur lowers his head and nods. "I care about this agency a lot."

"This is a test for you, from it I'll be able to gather where your loyalty lies," she says, then backs away from his bed.
"Get some rest, I will see you soon."

Wilbur sits in bed, silently staring at the wall. At least he knows Quackity is still alive.
He won't only be failing the commander by leaving the agency, he will fail his parents too.

Quackity POV

Wilbur is hurried to the medical area and Quackity gets handcuffed and led back to the prison room he started in when he was first kidnapped. The agency evidently thinks he was the one to hurt Wilbur. For some reason he doesn't care that they think he did it.

He sits silently in the room, holding his hands in his lap. He only tries to get the cuffs off for a bit before giving up on it.

Soon the door unlocks and slides open, the commander slips into the room.
Quackity glares at her immediately. He hates her, she manipulates Wilbur and makes him feel like she cares for him. It's obvious she doesn't give a shit about him at all.

"What do you want?" he snaps.

"I want to hear the story of what happened from you," she replies calmly. She steps over to his bed and undoes his handcuffs.
"Tell me how he got shot."

"Because Luzu from my old agency has him as a target," Quackity replies. He keeps his voice strong and confident.

"Your old partner?" she asks.

"Yeah," Quackity replies. "Luzu has been tracking us using my main gun, it has a hidden tracker you didn't account for. Me and Wilbur were searching for the target and were ambushed by the other assassin. He tried to take me with him and Wilbur came to my rescue. He shot Luzu and Luzu shot him."

"A tracker... where is this gun now?" the commander asks once he's done explaining.

"Gone, I threw it away as far as possible when I found out," Quackity replies. That part is a lie, but it's close to the truth at least.

"Quackity... you could have been a very good assassin here," the commander shakes her head with a sigh. "But you aren't trustworthy."

"I am trustworthy... you are the one that isn't. What are you hiding?" the shorter assassin asks.

"What do you think I've done that's so wrong?" the commander asks.

"You keep Wilbur on a leash. You manipulate him with his parents to get him to stay here." Quackity tells her his theory. "You don't actually care about Wilbur, you just act like you do."

"His parents were some of my favorites," she replies. "I have to make sure Wilbur doesn't meet their fate."

"How did they meet their fate then? I bet you ordered them killed because they simply wanted to be free and raise their child," Quackity snaps. His cold calm voice disappears and he pauses to think about what he has just suggested right to her face.

The commander is silent for a long moment.
"They had to be taken care of," she says simply in response.

...

Quackity realizes what that means. She killed Wilbur's parents.
He was right from the very start when he suggested the theory to the other assassin.

"You..." he whispers. A cold chill runs through him as he thinks of Wilbur being manipulated by her.

She smiles. "You're very smart Alexis, too smart. You are Wilbur's final test, I know he isn't going to fail me."

"He won't kill me." Quackity says firmly. "I know he won't. He told me what you ordered him to do."

"Of course he did, but if I wasn't confident in his weakness I would have already killed you myself," the commander replies coldly.

"Like you murdered your husband." Quackity digs even deeper.

"Like I murdered my husband," she confirms with a nod.

The two sit stare at each other silently for a moment.

"We are more alike than you realize," the commander tells him.

"No, I killed my ex out of fear, you murdered your husband while he still loved you," Quackity replies. "We will never be the same."

"Perhaps so," she doesn't falter. "You will stay here until further notice."

He watches her get up and leave the room, not letting him ask a single question about what that means.
Quackity clenches his fists tightly, he can't let her manipulate Wilbur anymore. He has to tell him what she admitted to.
