Chapter 7

''Now excuse me I have to go.'' I say and he backs away.

I pull in the parking lot the moment I reach Howard University, I spot Matt stepping out of his car and he walks towards me the moment I lock my car.

''Hey, how are you ?'' He says.

''I'm fine, you ?''

''Just enjoying my boring life.'' He chants and I smile. ''So our first class is English right ?'' He asks.

''Yeah.''

''Uh, about yesterday I really had no idea that you were asthmatic and claustrophobic otherwise I would have rushed and,'' He said but I cut him off.

''It's okay.'' I say and we keep walking.

We enter the classroom and it's already half filled, Ian waves for us and I sit in my usual seat, Jason's seat.

''He isn't here yet.'' Matt says referring to Jason.

''I know, he still needs to jog a bit.'' I smirk and both Matt and Ian stare at me in confusion.

The teacher enters the class and we start discussing one of Jane Austen's books which is Sense and Sensibility, everyone starts participating and so do I. Jason enters the class ten minutes later, his face sweaty.

''Mr.Danvers why are you late ?'' Mr.Roy asks.

''My car didn't work and when I asked someone to pick me up they didn't accept so I had to run.'' Jason says.

''You could have called a taxi.'' I whisper.

''That's true Mr.Danvers you could've called a taxi.'' The teacher and I lift my head up to see that the whole class is looking at me. Did I just say that loud enough ?

''Just take a seat.'' Mr.Roy says.

Jason walks around the class and takes a seat next to me. ''What are we studying ?'' He asks me.

''Uh.. Sense and sensibility.'' I answer.

He grabs his notebook and his notes. I feel my phone buzzing in my pocket so I grab it. My mom's name flashes on the screen.

''Phone isn't allowed in class.'' Jason whispers and I press ignore and put the phone back in my pocket. I don't think there's something important. I'll just call back later and tell her I was in class. My phone buzzes again and this time my sister's name flashes on the screen. I click ignore, again. My phone keeps buzzing and I decide to ignore it. Class ends and I stand up and collect my stuffs. I grab my phone and find thirty missed calls. God what's wrong with them ? I simply turn off my phone. To be honest I don't feel like screwing up my mood nor my day. If there's something then it has to wait until I finish my classes. I run my hand through my hair and sigh. I take my bag and leave the classroom to find that Ian, Matt and Jennifer are waiting for me. I love my friends.

''What about having lunch altogether after we finish classes ?'' Ian suggests.

''Yeah of course !'' I say and they all agree. ''So, shall we head to our science class ?'' I say to Jennifer. She nods and we head to class.

We enter class and the teacher enters the classroom right behind us. ''Alright everyone ! You all have an assignement to represent after two weeks so you'll be working in pairs.'' The teacher says.

''You and I ?'' I look to Jennifer and she nods.

''But I'll be choosing your partners !'' The teacher adds and the whole class groans. She starts picking partners randomly and I lift my head up the moment I hear my name.
