This imagine is based on the films at the mini victory party after the Battle of Helms Deep. I haven't watched the films in a while so excuse me if some of the events or time orders are wrong - I have done it to fit the story! (And because I have partly forgotten!). This is also better of you read listening to the song.

Music. Dancing. Drink. People. Laughter.

All your senses were taking in the scene around you. People were chatting and laughing, drinking beer and stuffing their faces. Dancing in time to the music - falling over if they had had a bit too much to drink. The strong smell of beer filled the room but after a while you had become accustomed to it. The candles and fires lit the room up orange like the dying sunset, and all around you people were happy. The music was fun and jolly, warming your heart and only making your smile grow ever bigger. All of this surrounded you as you sat on a table, people all around you.

After the previous night, the Battle of Helms Deep, you hadn't thought people would be able to be this happy again so soon. But it cheered you to think that they could; that there was still some light in the world.

"Excuse me Miss, but may I have this dance?" You were suddenly snapped out of your trance as someone spoke to you. You looked up to see a man - around your age - holding his hand out for you to take. You didn't know his name, nor had you ever seen him before, but with the excited, jolly atmosphere all around you couldn't care less! You smiled and nodded.

"Of course!" You answered happily. You took his hand as he helped you up and led you to the centre of the room. There you began to dance and laugh along with all the other dancers. You loved dancing. Music. You always had. Music always had the power to cheer you up, and dancing to it just made you smile and feel free.

You had been with the fellowship from the beginning, sat through the first council meeting, fought your way through the mines of Moria, battled many Uruk-Hai. You had seen it all. Done it all. You had been there when Boromir had been killed, been there when Pip and Merry had both gone missing. During this time you had stuck with Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. And though these had been hard times, moments that made you wish you could just quite and go back home, you had stuck with the quest. And even made friends along the way.

Friends.

Despite the fighting and the darkness closing in, you had never had so many people you could call friends in your life before. You see, you came from a small village near the White Mountains - not far from Rohan and Edoras itself - where you had been an only child. Your father was the leader - the Mayor, if you like - of your village. This meant that he didn't spend much time with you. He never had. He was always busy - tending to matters too grown up for a young girl, he had said.
"Go and paint something. Practise your needlework, do whatever a girl is supposed to do and stop pestering me!"
"Look, ( Y/N), I've been working all day and I am extremely tired, can't you see that? Just be a good girl and let your father have some peace, yes?"
"(Y/N), I really need to concentrate on this, don't you understand? Just be a big girl and leave your father alone please."

Always, everyday, you were pushed to the side. Your mother did nothing to help. She just sat there and taught you how to sew, how to darn, how to sing, play the piano, talk properly, sit properly, eat correctly, crochet, do your hair. All meaningless things that gave you no joy. Sure, you liked to be able to play the piano - that had been one of the few things you actually considered fun - and knowing how to darn socks came in handy every once in a while, but it became boring. Endless hours of doing nothing of any value, nothing that made a difference to the world or helped your village. And so one day, when you were around the age of seventeen, you had asked your father how to fight; not just with a sword, but with a bow and arrow, daggers, everything! You were tired of just sitting indoors doing nothing, you wanted a real adventure of your own; you wanted to prove how you were more than just another girl. And so one say you had asked.
