Chapter Eight-Hospital

My ears picked up a sound.

Beep beep.

My eyes slowly opened but closed quickly as bright light made contact with them.

I let out a groan.I heard shuffling around the room then a person speaking.

"Doctor she is awake"

"Dim the lights"I hissed.

Shuffling once again started around the room and soon the lights significantly dimmed.

I opened my eyes and looked around the room.

A sofa sat against the wall on the left and above it was a huge window.The entire room was painted white and beside me sat multiple machines.

A man who I assumed was a doctor stood beside me followed by a nurse.

"Hello,my name is Doctor Rafe,how are you feeling?"

"Like I've been hit by a truck"

He chuckled."Do you remember what happened? "

My mind replayed the last moments before I passed out.

"I was driving home from the woods,I was on a call and didn't see the car coming from the other way.To avoid the collision,I steered my car to the left and hit a tree"

He nodded and continued to explain me all my injuries.

Panic started to rise inside of me.I was on a call with Kyle! He must be worried sick!

I started to get out of bed but the doctor made me lie down again.

"I need my phone"I pleaded.

"Mam if you want us to call-"

"Just get me my phone please!"

His face went grim.He nodded and went out to retrieve my belongings.

He came back inside and handed me a plastic bag.Inside were the clothes I wore,my wallet and my phone.

I quickly took out my phone and then looked at the nurse and the doc.

They sighed and finally left.I tried to turn it on three times then hit the phone on my palm.

"God I know you love me,help me out here"I mumbled to myself.

I tried to turn it on the fourth time and to my luck,it turned on.

"Yes good God! Thank you"I squealed.

I quickly scrolled through the contacts.I called Kyle and waited for him to pick up.

"Jessica? Jessica baby!"His voice sounded to broken,it immediately bought tears to my eyes.

"Kyle! I'm so sorry"I sobbed.

"Where are you? What happened?! Are you alright?"He started to fire questions at me which caused me to chuckle.

"I'm okay,I had an accident,I'm at the hospital"

"I shouldn't have called you,this is all my fault.You're hurt because of me,this is all my fucking fault!"

"No baby no! Don't say that,it's not you're fault it's mine.I should have paid attention while driving.If I would have been paying attention,I would have seen the car-"

"Jessica where were you driving from?"

"The woods"

"And there was a car coming from the opposite direction?"

"Yeah so?"

"Jessica the road...on the left side,people who are exiting the woods drive where as the right,people who are entering the woods drive"He whispered.

I frowned."So?"

"Which side you were driving on?"

"The left"

"And the other car?"

Reality smacked me in the face."The left"

"Humans barely go there and if they do they know which side is which.Werewolves arw aware too"

"Are you saying somebody tried to kill me?"

"They weren't trying to kill you Jessica.They thought I would be with you.They were trying to kill me"

My face lost all of its color."Maybe the person didn't know maybe-"

"No Jessica,I think it's finally time to tell you all about my work.Which hospital are you at?"

"I don't know.Kyle I need to contact my parents and tell them about my whereabouts"

"Do not tell them anything about what I have just told you!"

"I'm not that stupid."

"I need to meet you,after you meet your parents,text me the name of the hospital or we could meet as soon as you get discharged"

"Yeah--"

"No! You're still hurt,we can meet after you have healed"

I rolled my eyes."Kyle I'll text you later"

"Ok stay safe and take care"

"You too babe"

After I ended the call,I called my father.

"Jessica! Where are you? We've all been worried sick,you weren't answering your phone--"

"Dad calm down,let me explain.I had an accident-"

"Accident?! Are you hurt? Where are you?"

"Wait hold on"

I pressed the button beside my bed and immediately a nurse entered the room with a smile on her face.

"Can I help you?"

"Can you please tell my dad the address to this place?"

She frowned"Who gave you your ph-"

"Can you please tell my dad the address to this place?"I asked again.

She took the phone out of my hand and quickly explained him the address.

After half an hour,my parents rushed into the room and showered me with kisses and hugs and sobs and everything else you could think of.

"Dad can't...breathe!"I wheezed out.

Dad let go of me and gently grabbed my shoulders.

"How did this happen?"Mum asked.

"I was driving home from the woods and was busy in texting,didn't see the car coming from the opposite side so yeah.."

My mum's face went from concerned to anger.Soon both of my parents were scolding me.

Should have paid attention.

Shouldnt have been texting.

"I'm sorry it won't happen again!"

After talking for a bit,the doctor informed my parents that I had to stay in the hospital for a few days.

"Hey doc?"

"Yes?"

"Who brought me here?"

"A young woman did,as soon as we took you for surgery,she left the premises"

My mouth set into a grim line.

I did recall a woman running towards me.

Why didn't she stay?

Daniel barged into the room looking worried and flushed

He ran towards me and took me jnto a bone crushing hug.

"This is all my fault"He whispered.

"No Daniel,it's all mine"Tears welled up in my eyes again.

I explained to him what happened and after talking for a bit,I texted Kyle the address.

After an hour,I fell asleep waiting for Kyle.
