Chapter Sixteen-Ignorance Is Bliss

I sighed when I saw my house come into view.I once again tried to call Kyle but he again didn't bother to clear things up with me.

I put my phone in my pocket and just stood outside,the wind blew my hair away from my face and the now darkening sky brought a very dangerous atmosphere with it.

My senses went on alert when I felt that I was no longer alone,no longer in peace.My body stiffened,my eyes went into slits,my hands sharpened into meat-shredding claws and I felt my wolf begging to be completely released.I slowly turned around and observed the darkness,the birds were no longer chirping as they had retired to their own cozy nests,the leaves were lightly swaying with the wind but I didn't see a single outline of any danger.

Even though I couldn't see anyone,I knew someone was in the woods watching me.The only question was why?

"Jessica?"I heard my mom's voice behind me.

I immediately turned around and watched her carefully."Why do you look ready for a fight?"She asked confused.

I relaxed after observing the environment for a good fifteen minutes and then changed back into my human self.

"Tell the patrolling wolves to patrol this area once again"I said to my mom as I got close to her.

"Patrol once again? Why?"

"Something is lurking in the darkness,maybe a rogue or maybe a rival but just tell them to patrol once again and tell them to take extra people with them.I don't want anything bad happening to the pack or my family just because we were to lazy to take precautions"I said with dominance heavy in my voice.

Coming from Alpha blood,I too had a bit of authority that my father possessed.You can't just belong to an alpha bloodline and not have any special abilities.Belonging to an alpha bloodline makes you more stronger,faster and especially more smarter than any other normal wolf.It also brings a dominant character with it so we could use our authority to command any wolf.

"Okay,I'll let the patrol team know...and your father"

"No need to tell him"I said quickly.

She narrowed her eyes."And why is that?"

"He's already got a lot on his plate and so do...let's go inside! It isn't safe staying out here,not with someone else here"

She nodded her head and together both of us went inside."So you found your mate?"

I stopped walking and turned around to face her.She locked the main door,turned to face me and then folded her arms.

"And what if I did?"I asked cautiously.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"What does it have to do with you?"

"You told your father! Who you were afraid of telling! You chose to tell that man over me?"Her voice slowly started to rise.

"That man? He's my father! He's your mate! No matter how much I was afraid before,I still love him and of course I'll tell him everything! He deserved to know about my mate!"

"And I didn't?! I'm your mother! I gave birth to you!"She yelled.

"Why are you making a huge fuss about this?" I pinched the bridge of my nose.

"Look I'm going upstairs,I don't have time for this"I said.

"Oh you are not going anywhere young lady! We are having this talk"

"What talk? You're just making a stupid argument for nothing! Look...my mate is going to come over to meet dad,you can meet him too okay?"

"Why didn't you tell me before telling your father?"She asked calmly.

"My father is your fucking mate! You both are-"

"HE IS NOT MY MATE!"She yelled out.

I stopped talking and just looked at her for a couple of moments."What are you talking about?"

She froze completely before dashing upstairs.A second later I heard her lock her room.

I rubbed my temples before going to the kitchen and grabbing a can of coke from the fridge.

I didn't even gave a second thought on what my mom had said and just proceeded towards my room while chugging down my drink.

I laid down on my bed and once again tried to call Kyle.

"What do you want?"He said coldly.

My wolf whined in pain while my heart started to beat rapidly.

"It's not what you think it is"I whispered.

"I don't want to talk about it"

"Just listen to me at least"I whimpered.

"You had one secret to keep Jessica! One secret! Our secret wasn't about how we skipped classes or some girly shit that you had to gossip about it to your friend! The mistake isn't even yours! Its mine! That I trusted you with my secret!"He hung up on me while I continued to whimper and cry in silence.

After I had calmed down,I texted Kyle begging him to talk to me and clear things out.

My heart just couldn't stop hurting knowing I had hurt my mate.

It just couldn't.
