Chapter Six-Taking My Breath Away

I lightly tapped my foot and looked at my wrist watch.

Where was he?

My sensitive ears picked up a faint sound behind me.I immediately froze and mentally prepared myself for an attack.As soon as I turned around,I immediately relaxed.

There was no one behind me! But the sound?

"Boo!"

I screamed and must have jumped a hundred feet high.Turning around,I glared at a laughing Kyle.

"You should have seen your face!"

I punched his shoulder and then turned away from him.

"Oh come on! I'm sorry babe"He kissed my neck from behind and wrapped his arms around me.I immediately melted in his arms and turned around to stuff my face in his neck.

He chuckled and tightened his hold on me."I'm sorry babe"

I didn't reply,I inhaled and his sweet scent made me knees weak within a second.

"You like the way I smell?"He whispered.

I nodded and then slowly removed my head from his neck.His eyes  met mine and he lightly placed his lips against mine.Our lips moved in sync with each other,his tongue parted my mouth and soon our tongues were lightly rotating against each other,passion and lust exploded between us but it all ended as soon as I pulled away.

"We need to talk"I whispered and looked away from his lust-filled eyes.

"What's wrong?"

"Kyle...you need to tell me what you do for a living"

His body tensed and the lustful look was now replaced by emptiness."Why do you want to know?"

"Kyle a man almost killed me and my best friend! And did you know why? I'll tell you why! Cause he saw us at the club together! That's why! Now would you mind telling me what's going on?"

He grabbed me and started to look for any marks."Did he hurt you? Are you okay?"

I lightly placed my hands on his shoulders."I'm fine Kyle but you need to tell me what's going on!"

He pushed himself away from me and turned away.He lightly ran his hand through his hair.

I walked closer to him and started  to massage his shoulders.I felt him relax beneath me and smiled.

"Jessica I can't tell you"

My smile vanished and I pulled my hands back.

"Why?"My voice turned cold.

He turned around and avoided eye contact."I just can't Jessica"

"Do you not trust me?"

His wide eyes met mine and he pulled me into him."Don't ever say that! I trust you with my life Jessica!"

"Then why aren't you telling me?"

"Because I can't take the risk of you getting hurt!"

"Hurt?! Kyle...do you work for the mafia?"

He looked at me like I was crazy."Mafia? Why the hell would you think that?"

I shrugged."You need to tell me! I'm your mate! You can't keep secrets from me like this"

"I don't want to Jessica,I promise you that when the time is right,I'll tell you everything"

I pinched the bridge of my nose and took a deep breath.
