Chapter One-Introduction To The Mate Problem

Mate.

A person who is destined to be with us for the rest of our lives.A person who loves us and cares for us like no other.You must have read thousands of stories on how two people meet,mate and then live the rest of their lives happily ever after.But sadly my story isn't like those fairytales.It was dark,twisted yet completely full of love.

I still remember the day when I met him.When my whole world was turned upside down just because of that one look he gave me but that day was also the day when dread,fear and sorrow entered our lives.

I remember it too clearly.

"Alright class,see you next Monday and don't forget to complete the assignment I gave you all"Our history teacher said as she observed all of us gathering our stuff.I huffed and started to walk out of the class.She couldn't just give us all a break could she?

"Jessica hold up will ya?"I turned around and saw my best friend Lilly running towards me.I chuckled when she started to yell 'Move it!'.Students started to give her way as soon as they saw her angry looking face.

"These humans are so annoying! Don't they know that they should make way for a person in a rush?"

"Calm down! Why were you in a rush anyway?"

She grinned at me and started to drag me out of the school building.We made our way towards my car and then she took out an envelope."To show you this"

"What is that?"I asked as I took the envelope from her hands.As soon as I looked inside,I handed it back to her and started to get in my car.She huffed and pulled me out of the car,closing the door behind her.

"No"

"Oh come on it will be fun!"She said as she waved the envelope in front of my face.

"I have no intention of going to a stupid club with you,getting completely wasted and then waking up naked with a guy who looks like a hobo"

"It will be fun! You spend your time to much with your wolf! It will be good to socialize now"

"No"

"I'll tell you what,if you go to the club with me...I'll do it"She smacked her hand on her forehead as she started to curse.

My eyes sparkled as I looked at her with a devilish grin."You'll do what?"

"You know what"She threw a glare at me while I pretended to not know what she was talking about.

"No I don't,tell me or I ain't going"

She sighed and started to walk away."I'll ask Alex out"

I laughed as I got into my car.Alex was Lilly's mate.Both of them know that since two weeks but apparently both of them are two shy to even confess the fact that they're mates.I guess because Alex had a crush on Lilly since 5th grade and he was worried that she might reject him.I don't know why he even had such a stupid thought in the first place.

I started my car and made my way towards my house.I belonged to the Black blood pack.One of the most powerful pack of the U.S.My father was the Alpha.He has a soft heart but sometimes his anger takes toll of it too much and he ends up hurting people who he cares about the most.

"Mom I'm home"I announced as I started to march my way towards the kitchen."How was your day honey?"

My mom's sweet voice rang in my ears as I came towards her and kissed her cheek."The usual,nothing special happened"

She nodded and continued cooking.I grabbed a beer from the fridge and sat on the stool with my feet up on the counter.My mom gave me a glare as I smiled cheekily at her."Mom,when will I find my mate?"

"Lets hope,who ever it is must be of equal possibly of higher standards then you"

I stopped drinking and turned to look at her."Why do you always say that? What if he isn't of my standards,what if he isn't even a lycan then what? You're going to forbid me from seeing him?"

She stopped cooking and turned to look at me with sad eyes."Honey you know that these words aren't mine,its your father.He's the one who thinks power is important than love"

"Mom you know that thought scares me.What if I find my mate and dad forbids me from seeing him?Then what will I do?"

She sighed."Lets forget about this,you haven't found him yet so there is nothing to worry about"

"Yet"I muttered and turned to leave.

"Honey don't get upset"

"It is a topic to be upset about.These topics make me want to be human instead of a lycan that way I wouldn't have a mate,I wouldn't have such a cruel father and I wouldn't have to worry about my dad forbidding me from my loved one"

My mother stayed quiet as I ran out of my house.I started to make my way inside the woods,towards our pack house.

"It would be great if you ran"I heard Daniel in my mind.I didn't respond and continued to walk.

"You ain't replying that means something happened that got you into a bad mood,wanna talk about it?"

I still didn't respond and finally heard him sigh.My mind went blank and I let out a deep breath.After an hour of walking,the pack house finally came into view and a smile lit up my face as I saw Daniel sitting on the porch waiting for me.

"Wanna talk about it?"I sat beside him and shrugged.

"You know what I'm mad about"

"Why do you even bring up that problem with your mother when you know her response is going to get you all hiked up"

"I guess I expect something better from her"I whispered and hung my head low.

I heard him sigh and he finally wrapped his arms around me.

"I don't want to have any problems with my mate just because of these standards.I don't want him to run away from me just because of my dad"

"Maybe you're worrying to much"

I shook my head and laid my head on his shoulder.He started to draw random patterns on my back and it bought me in some weird kind of comfort.Daniel was my tailsman to every terror.He would always give me comfort when I had millions of problems running after me.

"Lilly and I are going out tonight,you wanna come?"

"Where are you off too?"

"A stupid club"

A frown covered his face as he spoke."Be safe k? And sorry I can't come! Family dinner tonight"

I nodded and continued to rest my head on his shoulder.

I didn't know what life had in store for me but I certainly knew that my dad is going to play a major role in ruining my happiness.I loved him dearly but when the thing came to my mate then I would do whatever it takes to protect him from my father.

After all,he is my mate.
