Hyunjin hesitated for a moment when Jinwoo suggested working at a nearby café to finish the last bit of their project. It made sense—less noise, more peace—but something about the idea unsettled him.
Felix, sitting across the room with Jisung, clenched his fists under the desk, trying to keep his emotions in check. His wolf was already restless, and Jinwoo's voice was like nails scraping against his instincts.
"Away from the noise?" Felix thought bitterly. "Away from me, you mean."
He knew he had no right to tell Hyunjin what to do. He had been avoiding him the past few days, especially with his rut creeping up. He didn't want to risk losing control around Hyunjin—his scent was already too intoxicating, too tempting.
But now, Jinwoo was taking advantage of the distance.
Jisung, sitting next to Felix, noticed how his entire body tensed at Jinwoo's suggestion. The way Felix's jaw clenched, the subtle trembling in his fingers—it was clear he was fighting his instincts.
Felix forced himself to exhale, keeping his eyes fixed on his notebook, but the moment Hyunjin gave Jinwoo a small nod, agreeing to go, Felix's pen snapped in his grip.
Jisung's eyes widened.
"Dude—" he whispered, but Felix was already getting up.
Felix froze realizing what he was about to do.
His Hyunjin—no, Hyunjin—wasn't his to control. Hyunjin made his own choices.
Even if one of those choices was leaving with that bastard.
His fingers itched to grab Hyunjin's wrist, to pull him away from Jinwoo, to remind him who he belonged to, but he swallowed it all down. He wouldn't give Jinwoo the satisfaction of seeing his emotions slip.
Instead, he took a slow, deep breath, forcing himself to stay in control. Every muscle in his body was coiled tight, his wolf demanding action, but he knew he couldn't just lose it—not here, not now.
He turned sharply to Jisung, jaw tight, and muttered, "Let's just finish this in the library."
Jisung, who had been watching the whole thing like a live soap opera, blinked in surprise before nodding slowly.
Felix didn't spare another glance at Hyunjin or Jinwoo as he strode out of the hall, but his fists remained clenched at his sides.
He knew he'd regret this later but he can't do anything about it now. At least, not yet.
Hyunjin watched Felix's retreating figure, his scent—normally warm and sweet, like strawberry chocolate—turning bitter with restrained anger. His wolf squirmed in discomfort, whining for its mate, wanting nothing more than to run after Felix, to soothe him, to explain.
His fingers twitched as he moved to stand up.
But before he could take a step, a hand wrapped around his wrist.
Hyunjin froze, his eyes snapping down to where Jinwoo was holding him.
The touch burned in all the wrong ways.
Jinwoo must have realized it too because he quickly let go, taking a step back and raising his hands in surrender.
"Sorry," he muttered, forcing out a chuckle that sounded fake as hell. "Didn't mean to—just, let's go?"
Hyunjin narrowed his eyes slightly. He wasn't stupid. Jinwoo did mean it. That much was obvious.
Still, he swallowed the unease rising in his throat and nodded stiffly. There was no point in making a scene. They still had to finish the damn project.
