Felix lay flat on his bed, one arm over his eyes.
The room was too quiet.
Usually, silence was his shield, his comfort.
But tonight, the stillness gnawed at him.
He could feel the boy's presence on the other side.
The hesitant breaths.
The occasional shuffle of fabric when Hyunjin turned in bed.
Normally, he'd have been relieved that someone finally shut up.
Instead, the quiet pressed into him like a weight.
For the first time in years...
Felix couldn't fall asleep.
Hyunjin curled up, staring at the faint moonlight bleeding through the curtains.
His heart still raced whenever he replayed that moment—Felix's hand slamming against the wall.
That cold glare.
He pulled the blanket tighter around himself.
Afraid of making even the slightest sound.
He didn't want to upset him again.
Yet, he couldn't erase the image of the same boy catching him earlier.
Helping him gather books.
So carefully.
Which one was the real Felix?
Hyunjin didn't know.
But sleep wouldn't come, no matter how tightly he shut his eyes.
.
.
.
Days passed.
Hyunjin kept his distance.
He spent more time with that upperclassman, Chan.
Smiling. Talking. Laughing.
And Felix finally had some peace.
Or... was it peace?
Because no matter how still the room was,
his mind wouldn't quiet.
The memory of that day wouldn't leave him.
The slam against the wall.
The boy's wide, terrified eyes.
If it had been anyone else—
they would've changed rooms the very next morning.
Nobody stayed after something like that.
But Hyunjin... didn't.
Even though he avoided Felix,
he made no move to leave.
And Felix couldn't stop wondering—
why?
.
.
.
Hyunjin sat under a tree with Chan, a notebook balanced on his knees.
Pages already filled with shaky drawings of hand signs and scribbled notes.
"...you're seriously still at it?" Chan asked, raising an eyebrow.
Hyunjin hummed, chewing on his pen.
"If I can learn enough, maybe... I can actually talk to him. For real."
Chan's expression grew serious, almost exasperated.
"Hyun! He scared you twice the same day! Why are you even trying this hard? He left completely ignoring your state after scaring you. You told me that! Now why do you want to talk to him? You should just change rooms. You could move in mine—only Seungmin shares with me, it's fine. Why chase someone like him?"
