Felix sat in his usual spot at the far corner of the library, half-hidden by the tall shelves. The only sound around him was the faint scratch of his pen across paper, the dull hum of whispers and pages turning. He liked it this way—quiet, distant. No one bothered him, and he didn't bother anyone.

Until today.

A loud commotion broke the fragile silence.

Felix's head snapped up, brows narrowing. He turned slightly in his chair, eyes catching on the source. A boy he didn't recognize—new, probably—was staggering forward, arms straining to hold an absurd stack of thick textbooks. The pile wobbled dangerously with every step.

Felix's jaw tensed. Idiot.

It happened in a blink. The boy collided with someone passing by, his balance lost instantly. Books slipped, tumbling one after another in loud, echoing thuds. And the boy himself—he fell forward.

Right onto Felix.

Felix's chair screeched against the floor as the sudden weight hit him. Reflexively, his arms moved, steadying the boy before he could crash harder. He caught him—awkwardly, tightly—his lap suddenly full with a stranger's trembling body.

The library froze.

Every head turned. Every eye widened. Lee Felix, the untouchable, terrifying ghost of their campus, was sitting there with a boy sprawled across his lap, his books scattered like fallen bricks around them.

Hyunjin's lashes fluttered as he slowly opened his eyes, disoriented from the fall. The first thing he saw was a face—sharp jawline, pale skin, eyes so deep and dark they looked like they could swallow him whole. For a split second, Hyunjin thought he was staring at an angel.

An angel with an unreadable expression.

Then realization struck him like lightning. His body tensed, heat rushing to his cheeks as he scrambled up, nearly tripping over himself in his panic. "I–I'm so sorry!" he blurted out, bowing clumsily, his hair falling into his face.

The library was still deathly silent. Dozens of pairs of eyes followed every movement, waiting for the infamous Lee Felix to explode.

But Felix said nothing. His gaze lingered for a moment longer, then shifted away. He remained still, detached, as though the boy's apology meant nothing.

Hyunjin, flustered, dropped to his knees and began hurriedly gathering the scattered books. His hands shook slightly as he stacked them one by one, muttering to himself under his breath.

Felix let out a slow exhale through his nose, rolling his eyes. He didn't know why he did it, but he suddenly leaned forward, crouching down beside him. Long fingers reached out, plucking a heavy book from the floor with effortless ease.

The sound of whispers rippled through the crowd. Shock. Confusion. Fear.

Lee Felix—helping someone?

Hyunjin froze mid-motion, glancing up in surprise, lips parted but no words coming out. For the briefest second, their eyes met again, and something in Hyunjin's chest thudded hard against his ribs.

Felix, however, kept his face blank, dropping the book onto the growing pile without so much as a flicker of emotion.

Once the last book was stacked, Hyunjin let out a shaky sigh of relief, brushing his bangs from his eyes. He hesitated for a moment, then glanced at Felix's empty chair beside him.

"Um... would it be okay if I... sat here?" he asked, voice soft, hopeful.

Felix stared back at him, expression blank. He should've shaken his head, glared, done something to drive the boy away like he did with everyone else. But instead—before he even realized it—his head dipped in the faintest of nods.
