Thank you for reading until the end!

As of adding this special chapter, I am writing the sequel for this story.

You're taking cover behind a concrete building, not out of breath, but out of spirits. Looking at the single target not yet turned red, you wonder if you'll be able to get another person out before you're eliminated yourself.

The spot you're in has bad visibility. Peering beyond the wall, you see no one. It's as if everyone vanished, except for the occasional sounds of quirks damaging the terrain. Your heating quirk—your birth quirk—is not suited for long-range combat. You excel up close when you can use the skills you learned from Stain. Stamina is not a problem since it's a bright day and you can use the heat from the sun to recharge your energy, but you're slow. The One For All still inside of you needs to be preserved for life-threatening emergencies. You haven't tried to use the power since you gave it up, so you don't know how easily it would come to you. But if you're eventually losing that power, what is the worth of using it to get the provisional hero license?

You hear a faint woosh but before you can dodge, you're hit with one of the special balls used for the exam. The final target turns red with a metallic sound. You turn around and look at the person who defeated you.

"One more student out," the overworked announcer declares.

"Oi, oi! I never expected to have the honor of defeating such a famous hero student!" the lucky one taunts you. "I saw you on TV during the sports festival."

Considering that you don't know him, you decide not to respond. Unfortunately, he is situated in the general direction of the exit. There's nothing else for you to do, so you walk toward him.

When you're about to pass him, he asks,"What happened?" with a softer voice as if he is truly concerned. You stop and look at him. The boy with bleached hair and defined features stares straight at you. His baggy hero costume is making him appear bigger than he actually is.

He continues, "You didn't even try, did you? Do you think you're so much better than us that you don't have to try? Well, I hope you remember this day."

You decide to cut him off. "Everyone has their own strengths." Looking at him you add, "I'm glad that yours are serving you today. Congratulations. Do you want my extra ball?"

You place the ball on his palm and walk away. This is not happening. You did not just fail the provisional licensing exam. You're having dinner with your parents today—how can you look at them and tell them you've failed? And what will Endeavor say? He's been supportive of you ever since he took you in, but will he finally realize you're a lost cause?

You walk back to the exit, ignoring all the commotion around you. You bite the inside of your lip, but tears won't come out. It's as if you knew you'd fail, so you're not sad about it.

You swiftly change back into your U.A uniform and wear a zip-up hoodie over it to cover your arms. The summer uniform covers your collarbones just fine, but it doesn't hide the scars on your arms. The school rules allow such a modification as long as you don't zip the jacket up and completely cover the uniform. Not that you would—you're hot already.

Without thinking, you wander to the seating area where you assume others are. Walking through the rows, you notice no one you recognize. No one except Aizawa who has just made eye contact with you, so you walk over and take a seat next to him. Your appearance has not disturbed his focus on what is happening on the examination, but it did catch the attention of someone sitting only a few seats besides him.
