"Oh wow, that's a beautiful necklace!" Kai said while reaching out to touch it.
I caught his hand midway and bent his hand backwards. "Do not touch me."
"Ok, ok. Geez, you don't have to be so rough," he whined while taking his hand back. He rubbed circles around his wrist to soothe the pain. "So Sia, what's your business in Las Vegas?"
"It's exactly what you think. Gambling, drinking, and dancing with the hottest guy I can lay eyes on," I lied smiling through my teeth. He looked interested once I said the words 'hottest guy.'
The plane took off and he's already trying to get in my business. Why does this happen to me every single time I take a mission out of state? Why me?
"Oh well in that case, save me a dance" he winked at me. I didn't blush, I didn't smile. I didn't feel uncomfortable. I just stared at him and then turned my head to look at the view over the east coast. He noticed my silence, "Did I say something wrong?"
"Every single word that comes out of your mouth has a certain frequency that my ears cannot handle. So if you could please limit the trash that exits your masked mouth," I stated while gazing out the window. He huffed through his mask and tried to catch my attention again. Suddenly, I felt the warmth of his hand hovering mine.
"I'm sorry if I came off the wrong foot, I just wanted to-"
"To what?" I abruptly cut him off. He looked at me wide eyed at my response. He is really getting on my nerves now. "Whatever you're doing, it's not flattering or flirtatious either. So I suggest you put your hand back on your lap instead of trying to grab a hold of mine."
Right after I said that, his hand took hold of mine and he intertwined our fingers. Ok, now I'm furious. Just as I was about to jab my two fingers down on the pressure point on his neck a flight attendant approached us.
"Would the lovely couple like some drinks?" she happily asked looking at our entangled fingers. I faked a smile and just as I was about to deny her request, Kai agreed to two cups of coca-cola. She poured us two cups and set them on the pull out tables in front of us.
"What do you think you're doing Kai?" I whispered under my smile as the flight attendant continued down the aisle. I snatched my hand back and grabbed the cup of cola. I took a small sip to calm my nerves.
"The flight attendant passed by so I didn't want you to make a scene by pressure pointing me in front of her," he pointed out. How did he know I was going to do that to him? He grabbed his cup and set it in front of me. "I'm not going to pull my mask down in front of you just to drink some soda."
As I drank another gulp of the cola his voice sounded distorted and slow, "Don't worry you won't feel a thing." Suddenly my vision blurred and I dropped the cup. I looked down at my hands and they became blurry. Drugs? He drugged me?
Then my eyes shut. What happened the next four hours of that flight remains a mystery within my slumber.
-------------------
"Hey, sleeping beauty. Wake up," a deep voice said right into my ear. My mouth was bound by a rough towel. This all felt too familiar, the drugging, the mouth binding. I can feel my lower back skin touch the cool metal chair. They didn't strip me of my clothes or weapons. "Helloooo? Are you awake yet?"
I slowly opened my eyes to only meet the dark ones that greeted my on the airplane.
Kai?
He was waving his hand in front of my face to catch my attention. I tried to get up from the chair but he tied my legs to the legs of the chair. Only my hands and arms were free. He pushed me back down into the hard seat and untied the cloth from around my mouth.
