I stared up at the white blank ceiling of my room. My arms supported the back of my head as I laid down.

Who does Kai think he is? Waltzing into this facility and claiming to be my partner. I work alone, and I work alone for a reason.

I need to know his story. I need to know what I'm dealing with. My ears perked up to the conversation going on out in the hallway.

"Did you hear? Sia has a partner now!" one voice said.

"Really?" the other one said in disbelievement. "She ignored me when I asked if she could train with me one time. I even asked Killian if he could ask her for me, and he said that she threw a stack of papers at his face."

Oh, yeah I remember that. Killian came up to me asking if I would consider training someone a rank lower than me. He interrupted me while I was filling in paper work for my missions and I got fed up and threw the papers at him and went to my room.

I rolled my eyes at their pointless conversation. I pushed myself off my bed and walked to my room door and slowly opened it.

The two men outside my door turned their heads toward me. Both of their eyes widened at my sudden appearance. "Good god, run!"

They both ran down the hall turning the corner and I heard the other one say, "I FORGOT THAT WAS HER ROOM OK."

I closed my door behind me and made my way to the intel area. I'm going to hack into the files and see what info we had on him so far. On my way there I saw Kai.

"Hey partner," he said happily as he started to walk with me. I picked up my pace so I can ditch his prescence. "What's the rush? You left me and Killian back in the hospital resting area earlier."

I continued to walk changing my destination area to the lunchroom instead. "Well first, join me for lunch."

"Really? You want me to eat lunch with you? I've talk to some people around here and they say that you reject all of their requests to hang out with you."

I whipped my hair behind me and stopped walking. I pressed my hand against his chest. "Are you scared of me?"

I slowly backed him into the wall and closed the distance between us. I gained the attention of a few other guys in the hallway.

Kai looked down at me with his dark eyes in amazement. I tipped his chin down to my level with my other free hand. I leaned close to his ear, "Just follow me." He shuddered as the words rolled out of my mouth.

His face was red and he froze against the wall. I continued my way to the lunch room and he followed right behind me like a little lost puppy.

The other guys in the hallway were amazed at the fact that I didn't punch, kick, or smack Kai. They tended to their own business and walked away.

I have his attention now.

"Hey Sia want to join us over here?"

"Sia! Sit with me!"

"Kai! Way to go man!"

I brought my tray to a far off table and sat down. Kai followed and sat across from me. I opened the foil wrapping around my burger and grabbed the ketchup. I put a small circle of ketchup on my hamburger and topped it off with the bun.

"So why do you want to know my story?" Kai said.

"I don't," I said flatly. He looked disappointed. "How are you going to eat with that piece of cloth covering your whole face." I pointed to his mask.
