Chapter Twenty- Four
The strange thing about Bellamy Blake and Ivy Ainsworth, is that they are constantly regressing.
At least it feels that way for them as of most recently. They reunite after almost a year of no contact and get into one disagreement after another. They confess their desire for each other and then Bellamy wrecks a radio that leads to a culling. She forgets about his mistakes and begs him to stay when he tries to leave, only to find out her father died because of the aforementioned culling. They fight some more, she tried to get over her grudge, they fight again, and then he sleeps with Raven.
Everything is so back and forth between them that any person would go dizzy if they had to watch it all play out in front of them. And here they are again, when they finally agree to end their suffering and leave each other's lives, they get stuck being held hostage by a unhinged psychopath seeking vengeance.
It was a situation that Bellamy was furious that they were even in. Not because they didn't have time for this when they had a war to prepare for, or because he should've never let Murphy come back in the first place. No, neither of those reasons are why Bellamy's so angry he could pop a blood vessel from how hard he's clenching his fists. He's enraged because it should've only been him in there. Ivy wasn't supposed to be stuck in there, tied to the corner, she was supposed to be free like Jasper.
His glare hits Murphy hard and his eyes follow the traitor with every move that he makes. "First things first, tie a noose." Pointing his gun at the pile of red seat belts he had gathered, Murphy directed the barrel of the weapon back to Bellamy, and waited expectantly for him to do as told.
"Why should I listen to you when you broke our deal?" Bellamy growled, still somehow managing to keep himself in control from doing something that could end their Murphy problem once and for all, but could also end up getting Ivy hurt. That was the only thing stopping him and even though Murphy was the one with a gun in his hands, he knew it, too. He just liked having two of those things in his pocket. Because all Bellamy knew was he was in no position to give orders and make any demands; all that lay in the hands of Murphy.
Raising his brows, Murphy lowered the gun then pulled the trigger. A bullet shot out and hit the floor just inches away from Ivy's feet. She nearly choked on the gag wrapped around her mouth. "You're gonna listen because the next one goes into her for real." Murphy raised his brows at Bellamy, waiting for any move from him that would test his credibility.
This was exactly what he wanted. He would've been a fool to give Ivy up when she was the fastest way to getting him what he wanted. Bellamy loved playing hero so much, it was hard to resist making Ivy the damsel in distress.
Bellamy wasn't going to take any risks, holding his hands up in surrender, he shook his head. "You don't want to do that, Murphy. If you think that you can use Ivy against me, you're badly mistaken. She doesn't give a damn about me and I don't care about her." As the words left his mouth, his mind begged him to look over at her. But Bellamy resisted the urge knowing that it would give him away. After witnessing Murphy's actions of violence with Charlotte, the things he was ready to do, neither of them wanted to know what Murphy had in store for them. His only shot was to try and convince him that his biggest leverage was useless to his cause.
