7| Meeting King Richard

Today is Random Comment Day! I would like every reader to drop random facts about anything in the comments box!

Do you know that dropping liquor on a scorpion will make it go crazy and sting itself to death?

I gasped as the chauffeur helped me down from the limousine.

"This place is amazing!" The chauffeur looked at me as though I'd gone mad. It was then that I remembered that I was supposed to be my sister, who had seen all of this already.

"I mean...this place looks more wonderful than I remember." I crossed my fingers, hoping it would work, and apparently it did, because the confusion left his face.

"Nice save," murmured Mum.

"Thanks."

Henry had filled me in on what happened on the private jet. He said that there was a ball of some sort, and the castle was attacked during it. Rose wandered off somehow, and was picked up by the 'enemy forces,' who disappeared as quickly as they had come. Unsurprisingly, people had got hold of this juicy piece of news and it had spread around the kingdom like wildfire, compelling them to ckme looking for moi.

The guards at the large doors bowed as we passed.

"You may rise," I said, repeating the statement that Henry had told me to say whenever someone bowed to me.

We passed hallways and corridors filled with amazing tapestries and artwork. Eventually, we all broke off into little groups, Henry leading me to my room.

He opened the door. I think I forgot to breathe at that moment.

The room was really big, with another huge television at one end, and a king sized bed at the other. A desk stood at one corner, complete with stationery. There was a walk in closet, an en suite bathroom and a ridiculously comfy sofa. There was also a vanity.

"This...this is amazing," I breathed.

"Yes, yes very well," Henry muttered. "A maid should be coming by soon to help you get ready."

I whirled around to face him. "Get ready? Ready for what?"

He ignored me, and walked away.

I collapsed onto the bed, relishing the way I seemed to be one with it. I buried my face into the sweet smelling pillows, and found myself drifting off to sleep. I couldn't finish drifting though, because there was a knock on the door.

"Come in!" I yelled.

A girl about my age stepped in. She was tall and willowy, with coffee brown skin and chocolate coloured eyes, which were currently fixated on the peach carpet.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"My name is Adwoa, Your Highness. I'm to help you get ready." She still didn't make eye contact with me, so I decided to help her feel a little more comfortable. This was to be achieved by plying her with questions.

"Where are you from?"

"I'm from Ghana, Africa, but my family has lived here my whole life."

"What are you here to help me get ready for?"

"Your meeting with King Richard," she said.

"Oh. Okay." Inwardly, I wondered what the King would be like. What kind of father banished his own son from his kingdom? Try as I might, all I could imagine was a red eyed, scaly dragon.

We entered the walk in closet. I was blinded by the sheer number of clothes I saw. The closet alone was easily twice the size of the room Rose and I had shared back in England.

Rose. My heart ached dully in my chest. Sure, she hadn't been the best sister in the world, but I still loved her, even though she would never hear those words pass from my lips. After all, whether we liked it or not, we were stuck together.

"Your Highness, would you like the green dress or the blue one?" asked Adwoa, snapping me out of my trance.

"Huh, what?" I asked. "Oh, right, the green one." Green was my favourite colour.

"Excellent choice. Your makeup still looks flawless, as does your hair, so we won't need to call in Miss Winters," she said.

I nodded absentmindedly as she left me to put on the clothes when I insisted I didn't need any help. Not too long afterwards, there was another knock on the door.

"Come in!"

The door opened, and a guard entered.

"I'm here to take you to see the King," he said, bowing.

I gulped. This was it. I was about to meet the King.
