Thanks to all of you who commented in the last chapter! I have so much to do that sometimes I can't come to your page and thank you personally, but it really does mean a lot!

Hey! 2024 Princess here! I was just going through my dms and a lot of people were asking me to update this book. It's actually been completed since like 2017 or so, but the writing makes me cringe now 😭. I'm going to publish it anyway, because I know how painful it is to start reading a book and never know the conclusion. Plus, the memories ❤️

I pushed past the guards who were looking at me quizzically, but it really didn't matter to me. All that I was concerned about was getting to Louisa. Jacob ran after me, calling my name, but I ignored him too. I ran faster, which was quite a feat for someone who can't do two push ups without getting completely and utterly winded. Then I stopped, which of course ended up with Jacob crashing into me.

We ended up sprawled on the floor, a tangle of arms and legs. Just then, a woman came bustling by. She had beautiful curly auburn hair and brown eyes.

"For heaven's sake Jacob, if you want to tell the Princess you have a crush on her, you don't need to attack her," she said, hands on her hips.

Jacob got up and pulled me up too. I dusted off my skirts, although the palace floors were so clean that I could probably eat off them. You know, if I were a dog; which I am not. Let's get back to the point though.

"I don't like her Deidre," he said, grimacing. "I'd rather kiss a frog."

"Hey!" I punched his arm. "I take offence to that!"

"Oh I know," he said, rubbing his arm where I'd punched him. "Why do think I said it? Plus, it means you know you're a frog."

"Oh the joys of being young," said Deidre, looking at us as if she knew something that we didn't. "Nice to have you back, Your Highness. Anyway, I've got to scurry off. The castle doesn't look after itself, you know."

And with that, she was off down the long hallway.

"Who was that?" I asked.

"That's Deidre, the head housekeeper. She was to be Rose's lady-in-waiting, but she was promoted and we still haven't found anyone to replace her."

"What about Adwoa?"

"She's more of a maid than a lady-in-waiting."

"Do you by any chance know where Louisa lives?" I asked him.

"Who, The Dragon?" he asked. "She was offered a room in the castle when she came up to train your sister. It's not too far from here." He stopped and looked at me weirdly.

"Wait a minute," he said. "If you had no idea where you were going to find Louisa, then why were you running like a madman?"

I scowled at him. He grinned back, and led the way to Louisa's living quarters.

A few minutes later, we were standing in front of a large white door, beautifully engraved with golden flowers. I would have been content to just stand there gazing at the door forever, but a cough from Jacob brought me back to reality.

"Do you want to tell me what you did to Louisa?" he asked.

"How do you know that I did something?" I asked, wiping my sweaty hands on my dress. I should probably have gone to change first, but I really wanted to find out what was wrong with Louisa.

"She yelled something at you and then burst out of the room in tears," he said. "I think it's safe to say that you are the culprit. Not to mention your last...act of defiance."

"Firstly, you congratulated me last time. If I remember correctly, your exact words were, 'I heard you made the Dragon collapse. Props to you!' Secondly, this time it really wasn't my fault. I think there was a problem with her tea, and since I was the nearest person at the time, she took her anger out on me."
