I woke up the next morning feeling the after effects of training with Gerard. My body was sore, and I felt like I had slammed into a brick wall. After Monica and Gerard had pretty much banished us from the training hall, I had gone to talk briefly with my Mum, who, surprisingly, was in the kitchen, exchanging recipes with Marco.

Here's how the conversation went:

Me: Mum, why do I have to train with Gerard? I'm pretty sure he wants to kill me.

Mum: You need to know the basics of self-defence. I'm pretty sure that anybody who plans on harming you won't go easy on you just because you're a Princess and know next to nothing about fighting.

Me: But he's making me fight against his best student! She beat up three guys at once, mum. Three!

Jacob: Whoa whoa whoa! Back up there sister. Who told you Monica was the best? You're looking at the best!

Mum and I: Jacob, shut it!

Jacob: Alright! There's no need to yell.

Mum: If she was able to fight against three people at once, it means that she has a lot to teach you. Sweetheart, this is for your own good. I want the assurance that you, at least can do something to prevent yourself from ending up like your sister. I don't want you to get hurt.

Me: Have they got any news about Rose, Mum? I want my sister back. I want to go home. (I almost started crying then)

Mum: I know dear, I know. Promise me you'll try your best to learn?

Me: *Hugging Mum* I promise.

So, my mother had convinced me to take on Monica as my new trainer. After that, I had gone and locked myself in my room and watched Disney Channel until I fell asleep, around seven o'clock.

I checked the alarm clock. I had it set to ring at seven o'clock, which was when Adwoa would bring in my breakfast. For some reason, I had never seen a dining hall in this huge place.

Due to the fact that I went to sleep early, I was up at five thirty this morning. Oh the joy!(Note the heavy sarcasm.) I got out of bed, wiping the sleep out of my eyes. Kyle and Sam were probably not asleep in the room next to mine, but if they were, they would be up the moment I passed by their door. They had asked to be moved up from the room three doors down to the one next door because they said it helped them to be more 'efficient.'

By some sort of miracle, I managed to sneak past them to the kitchen where I met Jacob and Adwoa. I still didn't know where in the castle he lived, and he hadn't told me. They were both seated on kitchen stools drinking hot chocolate and they were chatting animatedly. There was a bucket of soapy water by Adwoa.

I coughed.

Adwoa dropped her cup onto the tiled floor and bobbed a very flustered curtsey.

"Nice PJs," smirked Jacob, and I looked down to see that I was still wearing my SpongeBob Squarepants PJs and I had forgotten to put on a dressing gown.

I scowled at him.

"Your Highness, I didn't know you'd be up so early I would have-" Adwoa started, but I cut her off.

"Adwoa, there's no need to be so formal, it's just me and there's no one else around," I said comfortingly.

"Do I look like furniture to you?" exclaimed Jacob in indignation.

"You didn't let me finish. There's no one else of importance around," I smirked. "Good enough for you, Jakey Wakey?" I added sweetly.

He scowled and I laughed. Adwoa also let out a little laugh.

"Adwoa!" I shouted and she jumped up in surprise. "You laughed!"

"Technically, it was more of a giggle..." started Jacob, but he quickly kept quiet when he saw me glaring at him.

Just then, a man walked into the kitchen. He was tall, lanky and had a perpetual scowl upon his face.

"What is going on here..." he trailed off when he saw the three of us standing in the middle of the kitchen with guilty expressions on our faces.

"Adwoa, I gave you a job to do! You were supposed to clean this kitchen! Look at the state of the floor. And on top of all that, you let your little friends in and you were sitting in here merrily drinking as if you don't have a care in the world. You are a lazy little brat. I'm surprised they promoted you."

"Sorry sir. It won't happen again," she said quietly, cleaning the floor.

"It had better not," he said threateningly. Then he looked at us.

"What are you two doing here? Get out, all of you, now!" Adwoa had finished cleaning the floor, and he cleared her out along with us.

"Who was that?" I asked when we were outside the kitchen.

"That was Paul, Marco's assistant," said Jacob, his grey eyes stormy in his anger. "He thinks he's so much better than the rest of us, especially Adwoa just because-"

Adwoa sent him a look and he stopped talking. She bit her lip, clearly uncomfortable with the situation. I deftly changed the topic.

"So what are we going to do now?" I asked.

"Well, I was about to go and start getting ready to go to church," Adwoa said, quietly. "Sundays are my day off, but I still have some jobs to do."

"Can I help?" I asked eagerly.

"It's really unnecessary-"

"Oh, please please please pretty please!" I begged.

"If you really want to," she said. "Your Highness," she added quickly, as she dropped a curtsey.

"Call me Emily," I said.

"Emily?" she repeated, her forehead crinkling in confusion. Jacob glared at me.

"Sorry, I meant Rose. Call me Rose." I corrected quickly, chastising myself for making such a silly slip up.

"O...kay," said Adwoa, still looking a little suspicious. She walked ahead, but Jacob and I stayed a little further behind.

"She almost caught you out!" he hissed.

"Well sorry that I made a mistake, just like any other normal human being!" I retorted sarcastically.

"Are you guys okay?" Adwoa asked, and I quickly plastered a false smile onto my face.

"Yeah, sure we are!" I said, and cringed at my chirpy tone.

"If you say so," she said, not seeming to be convinced.

We made a quick stop at my room for me to have a shower, brush my teeth and change into fresh clothes, which took roughly about thirty minutes. Jacob waited outside, but got bored and went to tell Kyle and Sam that I had woken up and that we were going to help Adwoa with her chores. They agreed and we made our way to a part of the castle I'd never been to.

"Where are we going?"

"The Lower Servant's quarters. That's where I stay."

This is the first part of the chapter. The second and third parts will be up soon. This chapter is not edited at all, but I will be going over soon. Bye!
