ROSE'S POV
"We're going out shopping to buy some essentials," said Rockley. "We'll be back soon."
I nodded, too deeply lost in thought to respond properly. For the first time since I was kidnapped, both Rockley and Stan were going out at the same time. Under normal circumstances, one would have stayed behind to act as a guard, but this time round, both of them needed different items that they couldn't trust the other to buy.
"Don't try anything funny," growled Stan. I scowled at him. He still wasn't one of my favourite people.
They left, shutting the gate behind them. The large, empty warehouse was quiet, the only source of light being the small barred windows located at the very top of the building. I sighed, feeling like a caged bird. I'd been here for close to a month, and nobody had come to rescue me.
I was beginning to lose hope. By now, there should have been a search party out trying to find me. They should have at least sent someone to reassure me that they knew where I was and that they were coming to my rescue. I mean, I am a princess. I deserve special treatment. I started shivering, and then sat down on the ground, in the small area that served as our living room. I couldn't even remember the last time I watched television. Or used technology for that matter.
Just then, a little pamphlet fluttering around caught my eye. I picked it up; I was feeling bored.
The title was: Do You Know Jesus?
I scrunched it up. Christianity? No way! I really disliked Christians. To be honest, to me they were a bunch of hypocrites; pushing their faith into everybody's faces and making those who hadn't been 'born again' feel like dirt.
I felt Christianity, was a farce, a waste of time. Seriously, a big man upstairs, listening to the prayers of every single person in the world? Ha! As if. Sending His Son to die for our sins on the cross? Lies! I knew of Christians who had daily struggles just getting food to eat. Yet there were those of us who weren't saved, living the high life. Does that make sense to you? Not at all.
I was on the verge of throwing it away when a voice told me to stop. I lowered my arm, puzzled. Shrugging off the haze, I stuffed the balled paper into my pocket and there it stayed, forgotten as I tried to figure out an escape route.
By the time Stan and Rockley came back, I still hadn't found a way to escape. I was sitting curled up in a ball, chewing my lower lip when they returned.
"Hope you didn't try anything," snarled Stan. He never seemed to talk normally, always growling, or snarling like a wolf. I rolled my eyes, deeming his comment unworthy of a verbal response.
"We bought you some....erm... feminine supplies," said Rockley awkwardly. He shoved a bag in my direction.
The tips of my ears flushed pink in embarrassment as I mumbled out the appropriate thanks for the parcel.
"Rocker!" bellowed Stan. "Come help me get things ready for supper!"
"I'm coming!" he responded, as he scurried away.
I got up, headed for the tiny door that opened up into my bedroom, and deposited the bag onto my bed with unnecessary force.
The scrunched-up ball fell out of my pocket, and landed under my bed, unnoticed.
It may be short, and may not be what you expected, but it is still an update! Wow! I'm so proud of myself! So....what do you think of Rose's view to Christianity? Do you think Christians deserve the criticism?
See you soon,
P.
