"Em, could you get that?!" "Course I will!" The doorbell had rung twice and usually I would've waited a while to answer it, but I wanted to do whatever my mum needed...since she's sick. I swung the front door open to see a smiling Harry. "Hey," he greeted as I welcomed him inside. "It's Harry!" I yelled for my mum to hear, since she was in her room. "Alright, thank you!" "You're welcome!" I led Harry to my room, closing the door behind us so that she wouldn't hear what I was about to say.
"So, it sounded urgent when you called me. What's going on?" Harry rested on the edge of my bed, stretching his long legs out in front of him. His emerald orbs searched my face in worry of anything wrong. He didn't know that I had overheard his conversation with my mum, meaning that both of them had no clue that I knew about the cancer.
"I heard," I started anxiously. "I don't quite follow you, babe." "The conversation," I hinted at. "That's...great?" He tilted his head in confusion. "The one you had with my mum on that night." His lips curved roundly into an "O" and his eyes seemed to grow larger in surprise, then heartache afterwards.
"Y-you heard..everthing?" I nodded at him and he sighed, roughly running his hands through his wild curls and then looking up at me with tears in his eyes. "Emmy, I'm so sorry. I should've talked to you about it." "I understand, Harry. She didn't want me to know, but I do. There's no way to change it."
I moved from where I had been standing beside my window, and went to Harry. I hugged him tightly, smiling as he hugged me back tighter, even though I was deeply broken by the news my mom hadn't wanted to tell me. Soon, I was the one who was crying, although I tried to hold back the threatening tears. "She can't die, Harry. I need her, just like I need you."
"She can get treatment..." He suggested, but he was frowning when I looked at his face. He and I both knew what my mom was thinking. "But she doesn't want to," I finished for him. "You and I...we could convince her to. You need her here. I need her here. My mum needs her here...and everyone who knows your mum. She's just one of those people you can't help loving, and she passed that on to you."
He cradled my face in his large hands, gazing into my brown eyes with adoration. It suddenly got a little awkward when his cheeks turned pink slowly. "You're blushing," I noticed with a small laugh; he never actually said he loved me, so it was surprising that he got close to it. He coughed and his eyes quickly darted to another place. "No, I'm not," he answered quietly.
"Aww, Harry, you're so cute when you blush!" I felt the despairing mood instantly lighten up. He rolled his eyes whilst a grin was forming on his perfect face. "Look at me," I ordered, but it was gently. His grin shrunk down into just a smile as he became more serious. His eyes that I loved watching flickered back to my face, waiting for me to speak again.
"When she's..gone, you'll be all I have left.." "Emmy, stop," Harry's face came closer, and I put a finger to his lips. "I want to know that you'll be there for me when I'm forced to go through everything alone." I moved my finger and he opened his mouth to reply. "You'll never be alone. I won't let you."
"What if when we get older, our friendship or whatever we'll have..disappears? What if we just grow apart, and then there's a moment when I really need you, and you won't be there?" "Em, you have to stop with the 'what if's', because I'll always look out for you." "Always is a long time though," I whispered.
"That's the point," he said cheekily, his face inching close enough that his lips were almost brushing against mine. "I haven't kissed you for a while, and it's killing me," his voice deepened. "Just kiss me then, you idiot." He chuckled at my response before pulling my face towards him, his lips wanting to connect with mine. When I felt his lips on mine, I almost jumped. I had forgotten how strong he affected me. The sparks had always been there, but right now in this very second, when both of us had been missing how it felt, the feelings intensified.
I had been craving him ever since we had that stupid fight, and now I finally had him again. Since we were best friends before and now, it would be hard for us to stay away from each other anyways. Our kiss heated up and turned into a full-on makeout session...I wasn't expecting this, but then again, I'm not complaining...
Harry's hands moved from my face to my legs, pulling me into his lap with my legs wrapped around him. I put my arms securely around his neck, occasionally moving my fingers through his soft curls, detangling them. I didn't want to ever stop, but then I heard my door creak open making Harry and I instantly separate, shooting across my room from each other. My mom just stood there laughing and I felt a blush heat up my entire face. Even Harry was blushing...again!
"Hello, Harry," she said with a wide smile filling her face. "Erm, hi," he replied awkwardly. "I was going to tell you, Emery, that Zayn's in the kitchen waiting for you. I let him in." She walked out and I glanced over to Harry who was glaring at the ground. "Harry, he's my friend." "We were just in the middle of something though. I want to get back to it.." He winked at me even though he looked like he wanted to punch a wall.
"It'll probably be just a couple minutes," I assured, though I knew that Zayn and I loved talking to each other, so it would obviously be about an hour or more. "Should I just leave then?" Harry asked softly, trying not to be angry anymore. "No, I want you to stay," I pouted and he sighed. "I'll just be in here." I gave him a weird look and exited my room, secretly hoping that he wouldn't go through all of my stuff, especially not my clothes.
"Zayn?!" I called out for him. "Hey!" I stepped into the kitchen..and into an unexpected hug. I hugged him back for a second before letting go and sitting down at the table. He took a seat beside me and watched me expectantly. "So, what's up?" He didn't answer, instead, he frowned. "What is it?" I asked sadly.
"I'm moving, Em." "What?! You just moved here recently though!" "I know, but my parents got a better job somewhere in Bradford." I put my arms on the table, crossing them and laying my head down sideways, my face angled towards him. "When do you have to go?" "Tomorrow."
"And you're just now telling me?" Did he know how much this hurt me? We had become really close, not as close as me and Harry obviously, but I would really miss him. "I'm sorry. I just found out this morning." "I'll miss you," I promised. "I'll miss you too," he said, scooting his chair closer to me.
"Hey, Zayn," Harry's voice greeted icily. He strolled into the kitchen, grabbing a chair and scooting it right beside me. He put his arm around me possessively, looking at Zayn purposefully. Zayn's jaw clenched when Harry kissed my cheek, his fingers grazing my face. "Oh my god, why can't both of you just get along?!" I pushed Harry's arm off of me and got up, getting a cup from the cabinet and pouring water into it.
"Sorry," both of them said as I drank the water, the coolness going down my throat helped calm me down. "Harry, Zayn's moving and I'm upset about it. I want to spend time with him, since he is my friend, without you getting jealous." "Okay, sorry, babe." Zayn's lips started to form a triumphant smirk, until he noticed me watching. "Did you want to do anything since I won't be seeing you for a while?" My heart sank when I spoke the words. I most likely won't have time to see him for a very long time.
"Yes, actually I did. I don't mind if Harry comes too," Zayn added that little part at the end with another smirk towards Harry. Harry cracked his knuckles and I rolled my eyes, but I wanted to ignore him now. "Okay, let's get going!"
