A day goes by and I try to hide from Elijah at all costs. I called up Caroline and told her to come by. I'm pretty sure she told Elijah and that's why he's here. I didn't tell anybody else.
I sigh and walk over to the door when I hear a knock. I open it and see Caroline standing there. Curly hair, floral tank and leather jacket. "Hey." She says and I step aside for her to walk in.
"Come in." I smile lightly and she does so. "Why did you call me? Finally ready to admit you lied and that whole thing that happened?" Caroline turns to me and folds her arms.
"Did you tell Elijah?" I ask, getting straight to the point. Her expression changes slightly and I raise an eyebrow. "Yes or no?" I ask and fold my arms across my chest as well.
"What are you talking about?" she asks and walks over to the couch, sitting down. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. Elijah is in town. He came to me yesterday confronting me about having my humanity off. I have a feeling a little birdy told him."
Her expression changes a bit as she hears the part where he came to me yesterday. Then she looks away once I mention someone telling him. "I don't know. I didn't say anything. I don't have his number in my phone." She shrugs and sits back in the cushions.
"You're the only one I told Caroline." I say getting a bit irritated. "What about your humanity being back on but lying about it?"
I bite my lip and shake my head, oops. I did that to myself. "Exactly. It's on and you know it! And Elijah is the one that turned it on." I shake my head and grit my teeth. "So you did tell him? Caroline! I thought you were my friend."
She gets offended and stands up, angry. "I am your friend Elena! Friends help each other and if you can't see that what I did was a good thing, then I guess your humanity really is off. Our friendship is done." She grits and stomps out of the room and to the door, opening it and slamming it shut.
XX (this is in Caroline's POV.)
She is so over herself. God. I shake it off, trying to calm down and I end up at the mansion. It's just the way it was that night of the ball. I walk up to the door and knock on it. It instantly opens and there stands Elijah.
"Caroline." He says smoothly. "Can I please come in?" I ask politely and he nods. "Of course. What brings you here?" he asks and moves for me to come in. I walk in and sit on the couch. "I thought that after our conversation on the phone, we were going our separate ways." He sighs and pours us both some scotch.
Just like his brother. They're similar in a lot of ways. "I want to rip Elena's head off. She's being so stubborn. And now she hates me because I told you about her humanity being off but lying about it." I sigh and take the offered glass of scotch. He sits down by me and nods.
"So you two got into a fight?" he questions, probably wanting to summarize what I just said. I nod and sigh. "Basically yes."
He pursues his lips together and focuses his gaze on his glass. "I see. I stopped by the other night and tried to get her to turn it on. You were right. She is being dishonest. It is on." He takes a sip of his scotch and licks his bottom lip. So much like Klaus.
"I'm done trying to help her. She got so pissed at me when I admitted it. She said 'I thought you were my friend' and that's when I snapped. I am her friend, and if she can't see what I did was for her own good, then she's screwed up."
"I understand why you're upset. But she is also upset. Even though you did the right thing, you broke her trust. Not saying I pick her side but, I can see why she's upset." He sighs and fixes his jacket.
"I will nonchalantly run into her tomorrow and have a talk with her." He says as he stands up. I stand up too and walk over to the door. "Thank you Elijah. I actually believe you can be the one to get her to come to terms with herself." He nods and I walk out, vamping off.
