(This one is in third person just for the purpose of this chapter. It's kind of a filler and I also had other things I wanted to put in here and first person was too messy for it.)
After their awkward moment, Elena decided to ignore it completely. There was a part of her that was jumping for joy, but she kept trying to tell herself that there was no point in trying when Hayley obviously has his heart. Caroline and Klaus have grown closer, making her realize how much she missed him. All that time passed and it's like nothing changed.
XX (At the Mikaelson's.)
As Elijah walked into the living room, Klaus sat on the chair reading an old book from their bookshelf. He sat here, but looked up with an amusing smirk as he saw his brother looking a bit troubled. "Hello brother, something wrong?" he asked Elijah but Elijah gave no response as he paced back and forth.
"I don't have the patience for your games today Niklaus." He finally sighs and rubs his forehead. He walks over to the bar table and pours himself some scotch. He downs that in one sip and pours himself another one.
"Save some for me would you?" Klaus smirked and stood up, walking over to him. Just as Elijah was about to take another swig of his drink, Klaus took it from him and set it down. "Spit it out Elijah." He says sternly and gives him a knowing look.
Elijah looks at his brother with his regular poker face, but fails by showing a bit of a fight with his inner thoughts.
"It's Elena." He finally says and looks down as he says it. "Ah, Elena. What about the lovely Elena?" Klaus smirked as Elijah shot him a glare.
"I'll deal with this one my own." He sighs and rolls his eyes as he heads for the doors after realizing that Klaus can't take this seriously.
"Elijah come on, what's bothering you?" Klaus asks as he sits up and grabs Elijah's arms, stopping him.
"Elena's in town, and now I can't think straight." He says blankly and shrugs his brother off, walking out.
XX (Over on Elena's side.)
"Caroline, I can't help it that I'm scared. At least you knew Klaus liked you! It's harder for me. Elijah said it was a mistake he'd never make again back when we first met." She sighed, getting aggravated.
Caroline didn't get it. Yes she had the right to be mad, but she still had to understand that Elena and Elijah's relationship wasn't normal. They were only of mutual use to each other. That's it. I mean, sure, Elijah had previous relationships with her doppelgangers, but he swore to himself to never make that mistake again.
"Elena, you need to at least try! If you don't you're never going to be happy. And he's what makes you happy." Caroline says and looks down. Elena now knew what she had to do. "I'm not telling him straight up. I'll see how he acts now and then I'll tell him." She says and grabs her zip up hoodie, sliding it on.
"I'll be back later." She mumbles and walks out of the hotel room.
As she walks down the wet street, staring at the ground, she starts to think. Does he even think anything of it? Is the first thought that came to her mind. She walks into a coffee shop and orders a regular coffee, then sits down at a small round table near the window.
Should she go see him? Should she let him come to her? There was a list of endless things that came to her mind. Was she annoying him? Was he ignoring her?
Once finished with her coffee, Elena stood up and walked out the shop, heading back down the street. She stops at a big group of people crowded around someone. She decides to watch and see that it's a group of colorful street dancers.
As the show wraps up and everyone goes their separate ways, she feels a presence behind her. It's a tall figure, built. And the scent... oh no. Elijah.
"You've been avoiding me." He says over her shoulder quietly and starts walking with her as she ignores him. "Elena, what's the matter?" he asks as he grabs her arm and turns her around.
Suddenly she feels her body tense as she stares into his intense gaze. "Is it about what happened the other night? Because I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable." He says quietly as he looks into her beautiful brown eyes.
He finds her so exquisite. Why did she have to come back into his life when he was finally starting to heal?
"No." she shakes her head and smiles a bit. "Actually I totally forgot about that." She brushes it off and he feels his heart break a bit.
She hates lying to him. That night, that moment, it meant everything to her. And it meant everything to him too.
But neither one of them knew it even thought about saying that.
"So did I, but I figured since you are with the eldest Salvatore it would have been a bit odd for you." There it is. That name.
"Speaking of which, where is Damon Salvatore?" he asks and looks around, but he already knows he's not there.
Why did he have to bring him up? "He's back at Mystic Falls." She says quietly as she looks down. "We broke up right before I came here." She says and looks up at him. His expression changes, his face softens.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know." He says and steps back a bit. "It's fine, I broke it off." She says and shrugs. "I didn't think it was fair because my humanity was off." She bites her lip and looks around.
"Want to go for a drink?" Elena asks suddenly and looks to him. "Sure." He nods after a minute of thinking.
They head to the bar and order a drink.
XX (Meanwhile Klaroline.)
As Klaus finishes up a painting of the sky, he ears footsteps. Heals actually, clinking against the hard wood floor. "Klaus? Klaus?" it's Caroline. Finally she walks in and stops. "Um hello? Did you not hear me?" she says sarcastically which makes Klaus smirk.
He's missed that. Her sarcastic jokes, her smile, her scent, her presence.
"Of course I heard you Caroline. What can I do for you?" he asks as he puts his brush in the water and turns around, taking a small towel to clean his hands off. "I promised not to say anything, but I need your help." She says confidently, knowing that if she does this it would be breaking yet another promise.
"Okay, what is it?" he asks as h pours himself a drink and starts sipping it, but he almost chokes on it when she says, "It's about Elena and Elijah." Did she just say what he thinks she just said?
"Excuse me?" he clears his throat and listens more intensely. "You heard me, it's about Elena and Elijah. Elena refuses to tell Elijah how she feels. And I need you to help me with that." She says sternly and crosses her arms.
He always found that amusing. How she just says what's on her mind like that. She didn't do it when it came to her feelings about him, but when it came to other people, you would always count on Caroline to spit it out.
"How am I supposed to help with that?" he asks, leaning against the bar. He's still mildly confused, but he refused to admit it. So Elena Gilbert fancies my brother? Was all he could think. And it, surprisingly, amused him in a way. He always had a feeling something would happen, considering his brother seemed to have a thing for the Petrova doppelgangers.
It was only a matter of time.

Hey guys, I'm so sorry for my like two week absence. I just started school on Wednesday and prior to that, I was having some issues and I didn't feel like writing. This chapter is kinda short in my opinion and a little boring, but I really just wanted to get something up for you guys to read. It might be a little confusing so don't be afraid to ask me if you don't understand it! Again, I'm really sorry, but I'm back now. Enjoy!
