Third Person
(At the bar)
As the two of them sat at the bar, drinking, talking, and even sharing a few good laughs, both of them realized just how infatuated they were with each other. Elena had never seen this side of him, and even though it surprised her, it filled her with joy. She realized just how handsome he is when he smiles.
"You play piano?" she asks, completely shocked. "I thought your only talent was reading and kicking ass." She giggles and sips her drink. Hearing that he played piano was a complete shock to her. Who would have thought that he famous Elijah Mikaelson played piano? Certainly not Elena Gilbert.
"Yes, I do. I learned to play ages ago. I haven't played in a while. Since I played for Katerina." He says, but suddenly his smile fades a bit and he looks down at his drink.
Losing someone is hard, even if they played you over and over again. "But what's a hidden talent of yours?" he asks, switching the subject quickly and looking up at her, sipping his drink.
Elena pauses, thinking for a moment. "Well, it's not really a talent, but it is a secret." She sighs and opens her mouth to speak. "Before all of this happened, even before I knew Stefan was a vampire, I used to write in a diary. It helped me get through the death of my parents." She says and glances down briefly.
The loss of her parents still hurts, even after finding out they weren't her real parents. "I always write. Reading and writing edifies the mind." He smirks and sets his glass down. "Do you still write?" he asks, with an amusing smirk on his face.
"Not really. When I found out about Stefan, and when all of this started I forgot to. It all got so busy and hectic." She shrugs and sips her drink, looking ahead of her. It was part of a lie. She wrote a couple of times after Elijah left, but she didn't dare tell him that.
"Understandable." He nods and sips his drink once more, finishing it. "Shall we head out?" he smirks and looks to her. She pauses and turns her head. "Sure." Elena finishes her drink and stands up with Elijah. Like a gentleman, he holds her jacket up for her and she puts her arms in it, shrugging it on.
"Thanks." She says quietly as he does the same. He nods and they walk out onto the street. Its dark, but the activity on the streets and the lights make it look beautiful. There's a cool breeze, but it doesn't affect either one of them.
They walk together for a while in silence. But it's a good silence. It's not awkward, there's no tension, it's perfect.
As they walk, their hands brush against each other's lightly once in a while. Elijah smiles a bit to himself, but hides it when Elena looks at him. "Sorry." He says and puts his hands in his pockets. They make eye contact for a split second and once again, in that second, everything is still. It's just the two of them.
Elena looks away first and Elijah follows after her. They continue to walk down the street, but soon enough Elena stops at a small cart.
Elijah sees the sign and smirks to himself. Buy a rose, and the color has a special meaning to it.
"They're so pretty." She whispers in awe and smiles widely. "Each color has a meaning to it." the seller says and smirks as he tries to get a new sale.
Elijah scans all the roses and stops when he sees a red one. "I'll take this one." He smirks as he points to the red one. He hands the seller fifty dollars but the clerk tries to give it back. "I can't take this, it's only five."
Elijah shakes he head and hands him the fifty again. "Don't worry about it. I insist." The seller takes the money and hands him the red rose.
Elijah turns to Elena and smirks. "Here." He whispers and slowly holds it out. He looks into her big brown and breathtaking eyes. She's stunning. "The red rose is given to those who you want to show love and passion, people who you have great respect for, and those who have shown great courage." Says the seller, and Elena's expression changes.
"Also the quantity could also have a meaning." He smirks and looks to the two of them. "Enjoy your evening." Elijah says and they start walking again, Elena never taking her eyes off the rose.
"It's beautiful Elijah." She whispers and looks up to him. "Thank you." She smiles and looks back down to the rose, smiling in awe. That made him feel warm inside. It lifted him. "It was my pleasure." He nods and smiles widely.

They get to the door of the hotel room and Elena takes a deep breath in. "Thank you for tonight. And the rose." She says softly and smiles, looking down at it again. "It was my pleasure." He whispers and takes his phone out as he feels his pocket vibrate. Klaus. He puts it back in his pocket and looks into her eyes.
I want to kiss him so badly. She thinks to herself. Her insides are yelling at her to just lean in and do it, but she can't seem to do it.
"I had a good time." He says softly and bites his lips, sighing lightly. "So did I." she whispers and takes out her key. "I'll see you again soon Elena. Good night." He nods and stays put for a second.
She opens her door and smiles. "Good night Elijah." She whispers and walks inside, shutting and locking the door. Once she's inside, he walks way and vamps home.
(At the Mikaelson house)
As Elijah walks in, feeling as light as air, he spots Hayley sitting on the chair reading a book. "Elijah, you're back. Where have you been?" she asks, a small smile creeping on her face.
Suddenly he feels very different about Hayley. He had completely forgotten about her for the night. For that, he felt horrible. "I was just out having a few drinks." He says, suddenly feeling troubled, conflicted.
She nods and stands up, putting the book away. "Well it seems like you had fun. I was just about to go to bed. I'll see you in the morning." She says before walking past him. "Good night." He says without looking at her.
After standing in the same spot he was in for about ten minutes, he finally decided to go up to his office. As he opened the door, there sat Klaus in his desk chair.
"What do you want Niklaus?" he asks and sighs as he takes off his coat and then his suit jacket. "Hello to you too brother." Klaus smirks and kicks his feet up on the desk. "We're having a ball. I need to win over Marcel's little pets." He says and hands Elijah an invitation. "What do you want me to do with this?" Elijah asks, looking at it.
"Well I already gave one to Caroline. That one is for Elena. Will you give it to her for me?" he smirks and stands up.
Elijah just stares at his brother and sighs. "Fine." He says and loosens his tie, unbuttoning the first button and taking the tie off. Klaus leaves and Elijah sits in his desk chair, thinking long and hard.

Wow, two chapters in one day? If only I could do this all the time. With this chapter, when I was done uploading the other one I immediately started this one. Just finished and I thought why not post it because I haven't in about two weeks. this chapter is a bit weird, and in third person, but it will go back to normal either next chapter or soon. Are you guys excited for the ball? I know I am! Enjoy!
