Bonnie finally arrived a few days later, and I think it was a good idea. Caroline was right, we needed our other friend to complete the triangle.

I finally decided to confront Elijah. It's now or never, right?

I stand on the street in my dark wash skinny jeans, my brown booties, a sweater and a jacket over it. My chocolate brown hair is down and straight, as always.

I walk up the driveway towards the mansion. The last time I was here was the ball. I shiver as those memories try to swim back.

I reach the door and before I can knock, it opens swiftly, revealing Elijah.

If my heart would beat, it would probably skip and then start rapidly beating.

He's wearing an all black suit, but no tie. The top button is undone, so it's a bit more casual.

"Elena." He says in his regular huskily, strong voice. "Elijah." I nod and bite my lip.

He welcomes me inside and I walk in, him closing the door slowly behind me. "I'm glad you came, we need to talk." He sighs and looks around.

"Niklaus is out, and Hayley is at the cabin with her pack." He explains and puts his hands in his pockets.

"Want some tea?" He asks, turning to me. "Sure." I smile lightly as he walks to the kitchen, handing me some.

"So, about the other night," he starts and I nod. "I'm so sorry about that, it was all my fault. I shouldn't of-" He cuts me off.

"Elena, please it was my fault, and we both know it. I don't regret it, not one bit." He smirks as he sits down on the couch with his tea.

"Y-you don't?" I stutter and sit down, clearing my throat while putting my cup down.

"No." He repeats and gives me a reassuring look. "As difficult is it for me to express how I feel, I do have to admit, I don't regret it." He sighs and sits forward a bit, resting his elbows on his knees.

I nod slowly, biting my lip as I look down. "Elijah, I don't know what to say." I whisper and sigh.

Elena, what is there to say? You like him too, just admit it to him. He did to you. God I hate my subconscious sometimes.

"I understand if you need time, but I can assure you Elena, I don't regret what I did." He nods and looks back at me.

I take in everything he just said and I nod, trying to process it in my mind.

I'm finally given the chance to have what I've always wanted, but I'm so scared that if I admit it, something will go wrong.

When things become a reality, that's when it becomes serious, and that's when people get hurt.

"I have to think this through." I sigh and bite my lip. Even though I like you I'm being stubborn cause I'm afraid to be happy. My subconscious throws at me, and it hits me hard.

I can't stand her. "Okay, I'll be waiting." He nods and stands up. "

"Well, I have to go. Bonnie, Caroline and I have plans to show Bonnie around the city."

He smirks, turning towards me and looking into my eyes.

"Well, I hope the three of you have a great time." He whispers, and suddenly I feel my breath hitch.

Why does he always do this?

"Thank you." I whisper and bite my lip, looking down trying to hide my blush.

He lifts up my chin with his pointer finger and thumb gently. "I like when you look down trying to hide the pink tint in your cheeks." He smirks and shifts a bit.

I shiver and smile. "I should go." I clear my throat and try to step back into reality.

I can't have him doing that when I need to think.

What is there to think about?

"Okay, I'll see you soon, I hope." He nods and let's me go. I walk down the road and text Caroline, telling her I'll just meet her somewhere in the town.
