Drake's pov 

As expected she fainted after listening to I'm the Duke she was bad mouthing yesterday. I was expecting her to at least sustain a few more minutes but she disappointed me. 

If she can't stay awake in my presence then how will she sustain our long passionate nights which are waiting for us ahead? Poor girl needs to eat a lot. She is so light, just like a feather. If she doesn't eat well how will it work? 

"I am really sorry, I will take care of her." that lady who runs the orphanage said and tried to take her away from me but i raised my hand and she got the sign 

She didn't dare to move from her place. I picked her up and asked where her room is. 

That lady guided me towards a big room where many beds are kept together. Means everyone sleeps here together. 

The third last bed was hers so I made her lay on it. 

"Give me water." I ordered and it was given to me without wasting any time 

I sprinkled some water on her face gently and she started shifting In her place. She blinked a few times before opening her eyes and the moment she did it our eyes met. 

She looked around her and then to me and her eyes widened in shock. A smirk formed on my face as I noticed her reactions. She is cute, very cute to be honest.

Her face reflects innocence and purity, nothing else. She will be the light in my darkness, her purity will brighten my dark life and make it perfect. 

"I am sorry, please don't punish me." she mumbled lowly as she sat up curling into a ball away from me 

I didn't like how she went away from me. Why will she go away from me? She should never go away from me, not even like this. 

"I didn't know it's you. I'm really sorry your highness, please don't throw me in the lion's cage or a lake filled with crocodiles." she pleaded with her eyes filled with tears 

Those bright orbs should be shining but cry like this. 

"I will Punish you for the sin you have commited Leah. You can't escape it." I told her to just tease her 

When she will know exactly why I am here she will be jumping in happiness I am sure. After all, she will be my wife. 

"Please forgive me. I won't ever repeat this mistake. I will leave Virginia if you want but don't kill me." she begged me now 

Her silent tears have turned into full fledged sobbing. She is hiccuping as well now. Did I scare the poor girl too much? It's good she should be scared of me if she fears me she will never go against me or dare to leave me. 

"I know you won't repeat this mistake. I will make sure you don't." I told her wiping her tears with my thumb and I felt her shivering under my touch 

Her cheeks are so soft just like a baby's skin. 

"Please let me go." she begged once again 

Let her go? Never! 

"I can't let you go Leah because from now you will stay with me. I am going to marry you very soon. This is your punishment for what you did." I told her and she stopped crying immediately 

Her face had no expression as if she even forgot to get shocked. I can understand that this big opportunity can make her go into a state of shock. Not everyday you get a marriage proposal from a Duke do you?
