Namjoon sat in the boardroom, staring at the polished surface of the long conference table while voices echoed around him. His team was deep in discussion, laying out strategies and projections for the next quarter, but none of it was really sinking in. He knew he should be listening. He knew they were expecting his input. But his mind was somewhere else...it was stuck in a place he had been trying to avoid for days.
Jungkook...
It had been days since they last spoke. Not that they had ever been particularly great at communication, but there had always been something...a casual exchange or a few words before bed. And if nothing else, at least they had shared the same space. He can't lie that he had grown used to that. The quiet comfort of having Jungkook's warm body beside him and the faint scent of cherry blossoms clinging to the sheets. It had become something he was looking forward to by the end of the day
But now, even that was gone..They had been sleeping apart for days. He knew it was affecting them. Their wolves were growing restless, weaker with the distance. But Jungkook was avoiding him, and Namjoon didn't need to be told that. He could feel it everyday.. The way Jungkook wouldn't meet his eyes and the way he kept his distance, refusing to let their bond pull them back together...it was all too clear.
And Namjoon was too proud to reach out first. He wasn't going to apologize for his choices when, as far as he was concerned, he hadn't done anything wrong. He had known Jungkook was different from the start, but he hadn't expected this much defiance from the omega. He really thought mating wouldn't change much, that life would go on as usual. But their bond was stronger than he had anticipated, deeper than anything he had ever known..even stronger than the one his parents shared. He had heard stories about such fated mates before, but experiencing it firsthand made him realize how badly he had miscalculated about the whole thing
Now, he was beginning to understand just how much they truly depended on each other. But his alpha pride wouldn't let him admit it.So, he did what he always did. Buried himself in work. Used scent blockers to keep anyone from noticing how off he felt. But no matter how much he tried to ignore it, the weight of Jungkook's absence in his life clung to him.
"Sir?"
The voice of his assistant, Eunji, pulled him back to reality.
He blinked, realizing the meeting had ended without him noticing. Eunji was standing beside him with a stack of documents in hand, watching him carefully.
"Are you alright?" Eunji asked, watching him closely "You don't look well. I could tell you weren't listening, so I rescheduled the meeting for tomorrow "
Namjoon sighed, dragging a hand down his face "Sorry... I...I don't know what's wrong with me..I don't feel so good today"
Eunji nodded "Do you want me to clear your schedule for the the rest of the day? You could go home and rest..." She asked softly
