Jungkook sat silently at the breakfast table with his head down, eyes locked on the steam curling up from the untouched food in front of him. His scent was off... it was sour and dull and unmistakably upset. Jin moved around the kitchen, cleaning up the countertops and plating some food, all while glancing over every now and then toward where the omega was sitting.
"Why the sad face?" Jin asked, trying to sound light. ""You got your alpha back, didn't you? Now what's the issue?"
Jungkook didn't respond. Didn't even look up at Jin.He stared down like the stew was going to start talking first
Jin huffed and put the towel down "Okayyy.." he said, drawing out the word with a forced smile "I swear I should be getting paid for this emotional labor. But since I'm a generous, loving hyung... spill. Come on. What's going on in that tragic little head of yours?" he asked, leaning on the counter near Jungkook.
Jungkook still didn't say a word. Didn't lift his head. Jin was about to sit down, maybe push a little, when the sound of feet in the hallway made both of them glance up. Namjoon suddenly appeared in the doorway, dressed in a sharp suit.. looking polished and serious as always.
Jin raised a brow "You didn't leave?"
Namjoon adjusted his cufflink, not quite meeting their eyes. "No. Thought I'd stay for breakfast. Do you have some for me?"
"Oh. Nice." Jin gestured toward the spread. "I made gyeran-mari, kimchi jjigae and some steamed rice. Sit. There's always extra food. We both love to eat a lot so it's okay!!"
Namjoon nodded and moved toward the table and sat down beside Jungkook. The moment he did, Jungkook flinched in his seat ...and even though it was barely noticeable, Jin saw it. And he could smell the awkward mix of their scents in the air... he understood something went down last night, and they probably needed to be left alone to talk and clear it out.
"Okayyy," Jin muttered under his breath "I suddenly remembered... I have to walk my cat"
Namjoon looked up, confused "You don't have a cat."
"Well... my digital cat. In a game. Very needy. Gotta keep her alive. She's a diva, just like me," he shrugged while pulling off his apron.
"What?" Namjoon's brows furrowed
"Exactly. So, enjoy breakfast. And Jungkook-ah... leave some for hyung, I'll come by later..." Jin said while he. walked toward the door and pausing before he walked out "After you are done, get ready. You are coming with me to that meeting today. And after that, we are heading to my parents' place. Eomma's making lunch for us."
Jungkook gave a small nod and didn't say anything.
Once Jin left, Jungkook quietly reached for a spoon to serve the stew...but Namjoon did it instead. He filled a bowl and set it in front of Jungkook first, then served himself.
