The waiting room was suffocatingly silent.

No one spoke. No one even dared to shift uncomfortably in their seats. The weight of their actions pressed down on them like an unbearable force, rendering them speechless.

They had all seen Anubhav's devastation. His wrath. His heartbreak. And now, they sat in a heavy, guilty silence, unable to meet each other's eyes.

Then, the door creaked open.

Dr. Maya walked in, her white coat crisp, her expression neutral but unreadable.

Every head in the room snapped toward her.

For a split second, no one moved. No one even breathed.

Then—

"Doctor, Karishma—" Anubhav was the first to react. His voice was tight with desperation as he took an urgent step forward.

Dr. Maya, however, raised a hand, stopping him mid-sentence. "Woh theek hai. Hosh aa gaya hai usse. Koi immediate threat nhi hai usse."

A collective breath of relief filled the room. Shoulders sagged, lungs filled with air they hadn't even realized they were holding back. Shivani closed her eyes for a second, Santu clutched her chest, and Haseena, who had barely been able to keep herself together, let out a shaky exhale.

But before anyone could process the relief, Dr. Maya continued.

Her voice was strict. Firm.

"Par woh bohot weak hai."

The room tensed up again.

Dr. Maya scanned each face carefully, then took a step forward and spoke again.

"Uska concussion third-degree ka hai," she explained, her tone professional but serious. "Head injuries chhoti umar ke bacchon ke liye zyada sensitive hoti hain. Karishma ko dizziness, vomiting ya confusion ho sakti hai. Woh chhoti chhoti baatein bhool bhi sakti hai aur irritability bhi ho sakti hai. Isliye yeh instructions dhyan se sun lijiye."

Then, something shifted.

Dr. Maya straightened slightly, took a breath, and began listing the necessary instructions.

But not to everyone.

She looked only at Anubhav, Pushpa ji, and Noor Jahan Malik.

As if the rest of the room did not exist.

As if she had already decided who actually cared about the baby's wellbeing.

As if she knew whom she could trust with Karishma's fragile state.

No one missed the way she deliberately ignored the others.

Haseena flinched but said nothing. Shivani and Santu exchanged guilty looks. Cheetah lowered his head.

They all knew.

And Dr. Maya knew too.

Turning to Anubhav, she continued, "Sir ke stitches naye hain. Is wajah se aap log uska sir properly support karenge jab use uthayenge. Koi sudden movement ya jhatka nahi lagna chahiye. Woh agar raat ko uthti hai ya zyada rota hai, toh uska head position check karein. Usse horizontal position mein sone dein, lekin head ko thoda elevated rakhna hoga. Agar usse vomiting hoti hai ya dizziness zyada hoti hai, immediately hospital laiye. Kyunki iska matlab hai ki injury ka impact abhi bhi hai. Har 2 ghante par usko gently jagaiye aur dekhiye ki woh properly focus kar rahi hai ya nahi. Agar uske reactions slow hain ya usse confusion ho rahi hai, toh report karein. Usko mostly ekdum new born baby ke jaise carry kijiye, sir ki chot ki wajah se aur fracture mai, yahi sahi hoga uske sehat keliye, aur carry krna easy bhi hoga apko. Nurse apko bata dengi ki kaise carry karna hai."
