“Happy Birthday Jayden” I smiled hugging him.
“Ew shh don’t say it. I’m getting old” Jayden laughed.
“No you’re not, you’re only 17” I laughed. A few months have passed, five to be exact. This year is going by so fast, it’s crazy. Three more months of school and by the look of it they will go by fast.
“17 is old though” Jayden whined. I was a little nervous to go over his house tonight. Knowing his aunt and uncle don’t like me very much. “I’ll see you later” Jayden kissed me goodbye before walking down the school hall. Lunch was the last class I had with him. Well really it isn’t a class.
Periods came and went when I was finally in my last class I sunk in my chair. You know how every kids wants school to end, then summer comes and you’re so happy but then you get bored and want school to start, then it all happens over again? That’s what’s happening to me. I think school should end in March! I yawned as the teacher passed out the stupid quiz. I looked at the first question and rolled my eyes. I guess I should have read the stupid book. I let my mind wonder searching for the right answer. Something had to fit and the others had to be stupid answers that would never happen. But the teacher was good and all the answers sounded like something the main character would have done.
“Okay students pencils down and pass up the quiz” The teachers loud voice boomed in my ears. I looked down at my paper. Crap! I only answered four questions! My mind was racing should I circle random letters or should I leave them blank? I decided my grade might be a little better if I circled at random. “Scarlett Taylor pencils down” I had a devilish comment lurking inside of me, I was holding a pen. But I kept my mouth shut. When the kid in front of my held his hand behind his head for my paper I got done with the last question. Thank god.
I met Jayden at my locker, I always wondered how he went to his locker, and then walked to my locker all before I get out of class. “Party time” I smiled turning the lock on my locker to its condemnation. Jayden rolled his eyes. I don’t get why he hates his birthday. Doesn’t every kid love their birthday? Free stuff, cake, friends, ice cream, cake.
“Do you want to come to my house early or hand out at your place?” Jayden asked placing his arm around my waist as we walked out of the school.
I swallowed, “Don’t you want to help with the decorations?”
“Don’t you?” He asked back.
“It’s up to you” I smiled. Even though I have my own car Jayden picks me up every morning for school. Not that I mind, I think it’s caring he wants to drive me to school.
“What’s wrong?” He asked backing me up to his car until my back was on the car.
“I’m afraid your aunt and uncle don’t like me” I frowned. The last thing I needed was to ruin his birthday.
Jayden ran his hand through his hair. “They do trust me. And if they don’t, don’t worry they can’t change my mind because I love you and I made you a promise” He traced the promise ring on my finger. I never take it off just like the bracelet he bought me and my dad’s necklace.
I smiled kissing him softly on the lips. I found out Jayden doesn’t like softness and always has to harden the kiss. I laughed pushing him off and steeling his keys to unlock the car. He won’t let me drive. Ever.
We hung out at my house for a while. Elias did steel him after a while but it’s always fun to watch them play stupid video games. When I finally stole him back we laid under a tree and talked. Mainly about nothing until it was time for Jayden’s party. He told me I wasn’t allowed to get him a gift and every time we’re at a store he makes sure I don’t wonder off and buy him one but I still got him one anyways. Sure it’s not as expensive as the promise ring was but I think it will make him smile.
