~Jennifer's POV
"Hello?"
"Jennifer! It's nice to hear your voice again." It was my manager. My manager sounded serious.
Was I in major trouble?
"It is?"
"Yes. But the thing is, where are you?"
"Weirdly, I'm in--"
"Kentucky? Yeah, I've heard. Have you forgotten about your 11:00 interview?"
Oh shit.
"I have an interview at 11?"
"Yes! So, where are you?"
"I'm at a cliff."
"A cliff? Jennifer, please stop going around and come to the airport immediately. We're on the next flight to LA."
"We are?"
"Yes, now, faster please, we have a plane to catch and an interview to attend."
My manager put down the phone. I put my hands on my head and looked at time. It's 5 PM already.
"Oh, no. I need to get to the airport, fast!" I said to myself.
"I can take you." Josh told me. I removed his shirt from me and gave it back to him while he put the guitar back to the backseat. He got the shirt on and we started driving to the airport. I could still remember the last time he was speeding like this...
*flashback*
"Fasten your seatbelt." Josh told me.
"Why? What happened?" I asked him.
"I have to take you home faster."
"Why?"
"Jo. She had an asthma attack. I have to be there with her."
"No, Josh, I'm coming."
"What? No, I have to take you home."
"You can do that later. This is our friend we're talking about."
"Are you sure that you can come home later?"
"I'm sure. 100 percent."
"Here goes nothing."
He went as fast as he could to get to the hospital. You just don't know if this could be her last day. It was sort of an adrenaline rush or something.
I noticed that he was panicking, so I reached out for his hand and held it.
"Don't worry, Josh, she will be okay." I told him calmly, like I know the future.
As soon as we get to the hospital, Josh and I ran inside to find Jo's parents. Gregory saw us, and he led us to her room. She was there, being medicated, and we met with her parents outside her room.
"Is she going to be alright?" Josh asked her dad.
"Well, we don't know yet, but with all those medications, I think she's going to be alright, Josh." He told him calmly.
After a few minutes, the nurse told us that she will be fine, but she has to spend the rest of the night at the hospital so that she will be observed.
*end of flashback*
"I'm so stupid." I told myself, trying to calm down.
"No, you're not."
"Yes, I am, because I forgot that I have an interview today at 11."
"No, it was my fault. I should've known that you're busy today."
"No, without you, I wouldn't have the best day ever since Jo was alive." I told him, and he looked at me for a second. He put his eyes back on the road with a smirk on his mouth.
Before we got to the airport, there was traffic, so I instructed Josh on what he should do when I'm gone.
"You can park this car in front of my house and then lock the house. You know where the keys are, right?"
"Yeah, I do."
"I'm really nervous." I suddenly blurt out.
"Jen, relax! It's not like it's the end of the world or something."
"It kind of is." I told him.
We got to the airport on time. I got a text from my manager.
Go to the runway. We're running out of time.
"My manager said that we should go to the runway."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
And we did. It was a quick minute, I might add.
"Thank you so much, Josh, I don't know how I'll ever repay you." I told him, then we both went out of the car.
"So, this is how it ends." He told me. I looked down at my feet.
I just had the best day of my life ever since Jo was dead and this is how it's going to end.
And he still can't remember a thing.
"I'm sorry, Josh."
"It's okay." He pat me on my shoulder. My manager called my name, so I gave Josh a hug. Well, not a hug, more like a really tight I-think-today-is-my-last-day squeeze, actually.
"I love you." I whispered in his ear before I ran to the plane.
"Jen, wait!" Josh screamed, and I turned around to see a running Josh.
We ran to each other until we were close enough.
And just like that, Josh and I shared our first kiss, again.
It was not a normal kiss, it was filled with passion. Unfortunately, I had to go, so when our lips parted, I immediately ran to the plane.
I didn't think of looking back at Josh at all - I was crying so much.
~Josh's POV
As soon as our lips parted, she ran away.
The girl who got her trophy from me.
That hair...
The girl I just hung out with today.
That body...
The girl I met during high school when me and my best friend, Jo, were walking down the hallway.
That face...
The girl I kissed during a school play.
Those lips...
The girl that became my girlfriend.
That passionate kiss...
The girl I went to prom with.
The dance we had just this early morning at the party...
The girl I forgot about.
The missing hole in my heart...
The girl I love.
I remembered everything.
