Chapter 22 - Totally Unexpected

~Jennifer's POV

"We are live in 3, 2--" The cameras started rolling.

"Good evening people, this is The Late Night Show With Steve Martin!" The voiceover played, and people from the audience started applauding.

"Hello! This is Steve Martin, your host for tonight, and we are here tonight with one of the winners from tonight's awards show, please welcome, Jennifer Lawrence!"

The audience started applauding. The doors in front of me opened, and before I knew it, I was smiling like an idiot and waving at them until I got to the chair next to Steve.

"Hello, Jen! How are you doing?" He told me as he greeted me with a hug.

"Fine and well, Steve. What about you?"

"Fine and well as well, thanks. So, tell me."

"Tell you what?"

"How does it feel like winning Best Actress?"

"To be honest, I felt like I was dreaming last night. I'm not even sure if I took a shot or something before coming there."

"Wow! Feeling a little badass, are we?"

"Oh yeah, totally. Bring on the Vodka, baby!" I told the audience, and they all erupted in cheers.

"If you don't mind me asking, I've heard that during last night's awards show, you dedicated your award to your friend named Jo. Can you tell us what happened?"

"Well, I was best friends with this girl named Jo in my high school years, and I really miss her so much."

"How much do you miss her?"

"Like, I don't know, 100% of the time? She's one of my very best friends, so I really miss her ever since she died 5 years ago."

"5 years ago! That seemed like a long time."

"It is."

"Do you still visit her?"

"Well, actually, I did. Just today."

"Today?"

"Yeah."

"You flew all the way to Kentucky and then back here again?"

"Yup. I did."

"You must be very tired then."

"Not really."

"So, tell me, you visited her on your own?"

"Well, no, I had someone with me."

"May I ask who this someone is?"

"Sure. He's also one of my best friends. Well, no, maybe not one of my best friends...more like one of the most special friends that I've ever had. I met him during high school, he was with Jo and they were walking down the hall when they accidentally pushed me down. He helped me during those years. He's one of the reasons why my high school days were precious and special. He was the one who got me to Kentucky today, but unfortunately, he wasn't with me when I got here. Anyway, I was with him during the entire day."

"The entire day?"

"Yup."

"Wow. I'm guessing you had a great time, then."

"Not really. The thing with him is that he actually lost his memory, and he can't remember who I am."

"Awww, darling, I'm sure he does."

"I sure hope he does, too."

"So, without further ado, let's welcome our next guest, who showed up here in surprise, please welcome, Josh Hutcherson!"
