SEVEN: FIGHTING FUEGO WITH FUEGO

"If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, you become something else entirely. A legend, Mr. Wayne."

FIRST THING GRETAL DID AFTER the meeting at her father's damn company was run to John's warehouse. She told Cooper she had things to do and she knew his brain was probably filled with questions but now wasn't the right time for that. Especially since her rant might've gave away that she might be a superhero. She hope it didn't.

John seemed to glare at her. The TV was set on the news channel and it just so happened to be showing Gretal giving millionaire Alexander Davidson colorful words. She scoffed but faltered when John's glare harden.

"What the hell did you do?" John crossed his arms over his chest.

"What?" Gretal shrugged.

"You know what. What the hell were you doing yelling at Alexander Davidson?"

Gretal rolled her eyes. Did Summers really not see the resemblence between her and that jackass? That even had the same eye color, if that gave him any hints.

"If you didn't notice, Electric, I saved your ass! If I didn't stop him everyone would hate us as superheroes! I saved your damn reputation!"

"Why were you there in the first place?"

She glared at him. She just saved his damn reputation and she didn't even get a thank you. She didn't give two fucks that Alexander Davidson was her dad and that he was a billionaire. She didn't care if she revealed her identity to Gabe Fisher. She had to put a stop to her dad dissing superheroes all over the world like they were worthless trash. She defended them and look what she gets! A big fat rant on why she shouldn't curse at a damn billionaire - millionaire, whatever.

"I defended you from my dad, you ungrateful jackass! My dad was saying how reckless and how dangerous we are and I decided to stick up for you and all superheroes! And look what I get! Fucking ungrateful."

She stomped out of the warehouse, John racing after him. But she was faster, apparently, she didn't know how but she was faster than the bastard. She heard him yelling her name, shouting he was sorry and that he misunderstood her. And Gretal hate being misunderstood. At least he had the fucking guts to shout it to her.

. . . .

Gretal made her way home and locked herself in her room, her mom pestering outside her door.

"Gretal Jase Davidson, get your ass out here right now!"

"Leave me alone!"

"Why in the world did you do that to your father? He never did anything bad to you!"

Gretal snapped for the third time today and slammed her door open, glaring at her mom. "No one fucking understands me! You look at dad like he's fucking perfect and he's a god! He's the worst person I ever met in my entire life and I hate knowing he's my own blood! I don't know you dealt with his shit but I know for sure that he ruined my life! He left when I was three and all of sudden you forget that and think he's been a charity my entire life! What the fuck is wrong with Brooklyn?"

She slammed the door closed and grabbed her iPod, shoving the earphones in her ears and putting the volume really high, trying to block her mom's crying.

. . . .

Gretal was AWOL with everyone. She didn't answer her texts or calls that John sent her and she ignored her mom at all time, always exiting out the window instead of the front door. And she missed her breakfast, lunch, and dinner with her mom on Sunday. The only person she wasn't AWOL was with Cooper (like that was suprising). Cooper bought her some Wendy's, seeing that she looked like she might pass out.
