Jin closed his eyes for a moment, already feeling the headache coming. He tightened his grip on the phone. "What did he do now?"
Namjoon sighed on the other end. "This morning his men were at the warehouse you brunt down yesterday. They were looking for something, probably trying to recover whatever they could after the fire. But that’s not the problem, hyung... He sent a message."
Jin's jaw clenched. "What message?"
"He said... this was just the beginning. That we took something from him, and now he’s going to take something from us."
Jin’s grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles turned white. His father never made empty threats. If he said he’d take something, he meant it.
He glanced at Suzy, who was watching him with worry in her eyes.
"Where are you right now?" Jin asked Namjoon.
"At home with Yoongi Hyung. Hobi Hyung and the maknaes went to school. We’re keeping an eye on things, but Hyung… this isn’t over. You know that, right?"
Jin exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah. I know."
He ended the call and set his phone down, his mind already racing with possibilities.
"Jin?" Suzy's voice was soft, but there was concern laced in it. "Is everything okay?"
Jin forced a smile, reaching for her hand. "Yeah, don’t worry about it."
She frowned. "You’re a terrible liar, you know that?"
Jin chuckled, but it lacked its usual warmth. He squeezed her hand. "It’s just some family stuff. I’ll handle it."
Suzy hesitated before nodding. "Just... be careful, okay?"
Jin looked into her eyes, his heart softening a little. "I will," but deep down, he knew things were only going to get worse.
Jin tried to push the thoughts of his father away, at least for now. He was here with Suzy, and he didn’t want her to worry. No matter how much chaos surrounded his life, moments with her always felt like a safe escape.
"Jin?" Suzy called softly, squeezing his hand.
He blinked, snapping out of his thoughts. "Hmm?"
"You don’t have to tell me everything, but… just promise me you’ll be safe."
Jin looked at her, his heart softening. She always cared so much, even when she didn’t know the full story. He cupped her face gently, running his thumb over her cheek.
"I promise," he whispered.
Suzy held his gaze, searching for something in his eyes. Then she smiled—a soft, warm smile that made Jin forget about everything else for a second.
