"No Jin, I don't want to hear any excuses. You and Suzy are coming and that's final" Bogum said crossing his hands speaking in a clear end of discussion tone.
Jin rubbed his forehead. “Bogum, I told you… I’m not skipping because I don’t want to come. I just… have a lot going on. Only a week left before I tell her everything, and I’m still figuring out how.”
Nancy, sitting beside Bogum, reached over and smacked his arm. “Stop arguing with him, Bogum already said it’s final. And don’t give me that stressed look, Jin. We know you’re planning something big, but you can spare one evening for us.”
Bogum pointed at Nancy with a grin. “Exactly. Also, it’s our bachelor party, and we are not celebrating without you.”
Jin huffed out a laugh. “You make it sound like the world will end if I’m not there.”
“It will,” Bogum said without hesitation.
Nancy rolled her eyes. “Ignore him. Just come. We promise—no awkward questions for Suzy.”
Bogum tilted his head, smirking. “Okay, maybe one or two.”
Nancy smacked him again.
Jin shook his head, hiding a small smile. “You two are hopeless.”
“And you love us,” Nancy replied sweetly.
Jin left with their laughter following him, pulling his phone out as soon as he got to his car. His thumb hovered over Suzy’s contact. A quiet sigh escaped him. Just one night, he thought. One night to laugh with friends before the storm.
That evening, Jin sat with Namjoon, Yoongi, and Taehyung in the living room, the invitation for Bogum and Nancy's bachelor party lying on the coffee table.
“You’re actually going to propose next week?” Namjoon asked, leaning back.
Jin nodded, his eyes steady. “Yeah. I’m done waiting.”
Yoongi frowned. “Hyung… you’re going to tell her about the family too, right?”
“I have to,” Jin replied, but there was a flicker of hesitation in his tone. “I lied to her. Told her I’m from a middle-class family because she hates rich people. But I can’t start a marriage on a lie.”
Taehyung tilted his head. “What if she leaves when she finds out?”
Jin swallowed hard, looking down at his hands. “Then at least I’ll know I was honest. But I’m hoping… she’ll love me enough to stay.”
Yoongi let out a slow sigh. “Hyung, Suzy’s not like other people. But still… be ready for anything.”
Namjoon nodded. “And remember, we’re here. Whatever happens, we’ll deal with it together.”
Jin managed a small smile. “Thanks. I just… I want her to be my future. And I’m ready to fight for that.”
Later Jin sat on the edge of his bed, the room dim except for the soft glow of the lamp on his desk. In his hand was a framed photo of Suzy — her smile frozen in time, bright and effortless.
