Jackie's POV

I know I said bye to Elia, but I didn't leave just yet. I had stuff to do after school and I knew she was gonna leave soon, so I said goodbye.

My math teacher wanted to talk to me about my grades. Elia had been tutoring me for a while, so I guessed it was to congratulate me. And I was right. Mrs. Evers told me how proud she was about my improvement, how I was above average now, yada yada yada. Thirty minutes later she finally dismissed me with a lollipop. I know she's strict, but she has a soft side too.

I walked to my car, and thought, 'Maybe I'll visit Elia today. She won't come to my house anyway, and its been a while since I've been there.' So I drove towards her street, but on the way, I saw there had been a car crash. For some reason, my stomach clenched, and I parked on the curb. I looked over at the red car, and the lady was being a bitch because her 'brand new car' had a dent. I rolled my eyes, and looked over at the crashed car. It was really destroyed, and I could tell that whoever was in there was badly hurt. I kept looking at the car, wondering why it seemed so familiar. And then I saw it.

The edges of the heart on the passenger door was scratched badly, but still pretty visible. I felt my heart stop at the sight of it, and then I saw movement. She was crawling out of the driver's window, her arms and forehead bloody, her hair all over her face, and her face covered in cuts. She was pulled out the rest of the way, and I saw the extent of the damage.

Her legs, god, her legs!! They were bent in really odd angles, and they looked like they were crushed to pieces. Her black skinny jeans were torn beyond repair, looking extra black because of the blood. Her shirt was ripped, leaving her stomach bare where a large gash was visible. I don't know how long I stood there before I started crying and screaming. People moved out of my way, obviously figuring out that I knew her. Police restrained me, but I kept trying to reach out to her. Her eyes were open, and she was looking up at the sky with a blank expression. Suddenly, she smiled, and her eyes slowly closed. Now I really started panicking. My best friend was lying there, probably breathing her last breath. I screamed her name, calling her a dumbass and that she should wake up. The policemen escorted me to the ambulance, and they let me ride with her because, obviously, I was the only person in the scene who knew who she was.

I climbed in, trying to hold back my tears as I saw her injuries up close. I reached out to hold her right hand, but I quickly drew my hand back when I felt how small and bony it was. I cried, and she smiled in her sleep. I looked back at her hand, wanting to hold it, but then noticed a piece of paper in it. I carefully unfolded her hand, and took the paper out. I immediately recognized the handwriting as Amy's, and tried to read it, but the bumps on the road caused everything to move too much for me to read it in the ambulance car. I put it in my pocket to read later, and focused on Elia again. Her face was slightly turned towards me, and her smile was still there. It seemed as if she knew I was there, and subconsciously moved closer to me, her best friend. I then knew she was going to be okay, because she was Elia, and Elia has a tendency to get her way when she needs it most.

Elia's POV

I was in an empty field, the flowers holding absolutely no color. I looked around, and the only things that had colors were me and the sky. I heard someone call my name, but when I turned around, there was no one. I shrugged it off and decided to walk around to see my surroundings, but after a few minutes I noticed hat everything was the same.

I grew bored, and wanted to get out of this place. Everything was the same, even the damn clouds remained the same and unmoving!! I tried to walk away when suddenly, I felt searing pain everywhere. I screamed, and suddenly the field melted away into darkness. I could feel my whole body in pain, and I opened my eyes to find myself in a hospital room, Jackie by my bed.
