Ben Tennyson in Poppy Playtime

Chapter 4: Part 10

Ben started waking up, he looks around seeing Catnap, Dogday, Mommy Long Legs, Yarnaby, and Daisy looking down on him.

"Hey, guys." Ben said tiredly.

"You look beat, Angel." Dogday said.

Ben sat up and rubbed his head.

"I was so exhausted from all that running." Ben said.

Ben looked at the bite mark on his right arm. It had turned into a scar. Ben sighs.

"I have so many scars now." Ben muttered.

A pod opened, Ben got up and walked over to inspect it.

"I don't think we can fit in there." Mommy said.

Ben sighs as he has to make a decision.

"If that's the case, you and Yarnaby go back to Safe Haven. Yarnaby will be safe there from the Doctor's control. The rest of us will go. I don't wanna risk a lot of you getting forced to attack me." Ben said.

"Okay, be careful." Mommy said as she rubs Ben's cheek with her violet hand.

They both started tearing up as they both hugged as they both started crying. Mommy pets Daisy as she cries too. They both let go of the embrace, Ben backs up and wipes his tears with his hand.

"Goodbye, Mommy Long Legs. Thank you for everything." Ben said.

Mommy nodded as she petted Yarnaby next to her.

He turns around after saying his farewell. He enters the pod with Catnap and Dogday. Ben lets in a sobby inhale with his eyeballs still wet from the tears. The pod closes and they went down.

As they enter a small room, Ben started watching a tape.

Toy 2: (groaning in pain)

Hoppy: I need some help here!

"Isn't that... Hoppy Hopscotch's voice?" Ben asked.

"It is." Catnap said.

Toy 1: Hey, watch the door! Watch the door!

Medic: Right here. On the mattress.

Hoppy: There you go, bud. You're okay.

Toy 2: "Okay"? Look at me, I'm a mess!

Doey: Hoppy? What's going on?

Hoppy: We were trying to bring supplies back up to the elevator, but we got jumped. Had to turn all the way back around.

Toy 2: They took everything we had! Right after one of em bit my leg!

Doey: Hmm... how is he, doc?

Medic: ...Hmmm. Not too bad... He'll live.

Hoppy: See?

Medic: Keep bite clean. Could get infected otherwise.

Hoppy: So, um... What do we do now?

Doey: For starters, you stay here tonight. Let things settle down outside. I'll find more food for you to bring up to Playcare. When you're ready.

Hoppy: Thanks, Doey. Sorry we lost the supplies. It won't happen again.

Doey: The important thing is you're both okay... aside from that bite, that is. Hey, doc, let me grab some wound cream for our pal here.

"I remember Hoppy telling me that she's getting supplies with a toy. Thank goodness they were okay." Dogday said.

"But who attacked them?" Ben said.

"I don't know, Hoppy didn't tell me. Maybe she was traumatized to tell me." Dogday said.

They continued walking. They turned a corner and spotted Doey looking at the pipes.

"Doey?" Ben asked.

"Oh, Ben. It's you! Is the Doctor... No, don't suppose he is then..." Doey said.

Ben raised his eyebrow in confusion.

"I've been here gathering parts for the generator. LOTS of-..." Doey said but then gas starts spraying him from the pipes, freezing him.

"DOEY!" Ben, Catnap, and Dogday all exclaimed.

Ben starts looks around to help him. He turns the valve handle and redirected the gas. Doey thaws out and Ben rushed to him.

"Are you okay?" Ben asked as Daisy meows.

"He's made it impossible for me to get around here. Traps like this are everywhere! It's the cold that hurts... The big mean Doctor knows that... It's okay. You're okay. It's all okay..." Doey said.

"Take a rest for now, we'll check on you later." Ben said.

They continued on. Ben spots a dead Tentails toy on the ground. Ben stares as he backs up in horror. He's heart starts beating.

"H-How is this possible? This place continues to creep me out." Ben said.

"Not all Smiling Critters are the originals. That's someone else, not you." Catnap said.

"Okay, but still..." Ben said.

Catnap and Dogday grabs hold of Ben as he swings to avoid the gap. As they got to the other side, Ben spots some lift trucks. He test the buttons and switches on one of them.

"Yep, I figured. These are pretty much out of commission." Ben said.

Ben enters a little construction area.

"Ah, Ben 10. Here you are. Just as I expected." The Doctor said.

"What do you want?" Ben said.

"Tell me, I'm curious. Why are you here?" The Doctor asked.

"I got a letter from the orphans. I'm here to rescue them, here to stop the Prototype, and here to free all of your toy slaves!" Ben said.

"Heh, I figured that letter wasn't your only answer. But why do you agree with the task? Why someone who is young and pure risking their life for missing people who are forgotten? Why do you care about these toys? They are possessed by corrupted souls." The Doctor said.

Ben looked back at Catnap and Dogday. Then face back looking at the ground.

"You're wrong." Ben said as he clutched his fist. He looks up.

"Them being possessed by souls doesn't mean they're evil. They just have been through a lot. The reason why they attacked me is because I'm the same species as who treated them. It's not their fault for the Hour of Joy attack, it's your guy's fault for treating them horribly, causing them to hate humans and attack innocent people! I might be a lot younger than this company and younger than full grown adult but I understand their pain and I'm willing to sacrifice my own life to keep them and others safe. Because it's the right thing to do." Ben said.
