I took a mouthful of the liquor and my mouth and throat instantly burns. I swallowed and coughed violently.
"Ugh, what is that?" I asked wiping my mouth and handing Ben back the bottle.
"Delicious whiskey," he grinned and took a swig effortlessly.
"I don't know how you people do it," I said and looked at the river that passes by.
We we're under a bridge just off the main road. All the walls were tagged and filled with colours while trash scattered the place.
"Excited for school tomorrow, Aka hell?" He asked still looking in the distance.
I shook my head.
"Really? I thought you guys would just love school and it would be your temple or some shit."
"No. It's just as hell as you guys see it," I said blankly.
"Oh."
There was a long painful silence and all we could hear was cars, trucks, busses and trams passing by above us. Until Ben broke the silence.
"What are you going to do when you graduate?" He asked throwing the bottle into the river.
I watched it float down to the left and I seriously thought about it. Lawer? Artist?
"I've always wanted to be an artist of some kind. Not a stupid lawer," I said.
He nodded and opened another bottle.
"What about you?" I asked looking at him.
"Who the hell knows, I'll probably be dead by then," he said and started to drink from the bottle.
I smiled and looked back down at the river.
...
"Here let me help," he said and lifted me up and I finally got my foot up the branch. I kept climbing as Ben tailed behind me. I reached the branch that leads to my window and Ben smiled at me.
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow," I said and started to turn.
He grabbed my hand and I spun back around.
"Hold on, what about my goodbye snog," he smuggled and I bit my lip.
I gave him a quick peck on the cheek and he just stood there dumbfounded. I reached up to my window and I closed them as well as my curtains.
I looked at my clock and realized that it was 6:35pm. Dinner's at 7. Good. That gives me time.
...
It was a cold breezy day at school and I was eating the chicken sandwich the cooks gave me. I sat alone in the courtyard and I was surrounded by the socializing of my peers. I sighed deeply and I continued to eat my lunch.
Could life get even more boring?
