"My dear I really wish you would put yourself out there on the market, I don't get why you don't want to." Rosalie said once again bringing up the topic again, Alexandria remained silent. "Don't you want to get married?" Rosalie pressed. Of course Alexandria wanted to but the man she loved she suspected didn't love her back.
"I do. I'm just holding out for the right person." Alexandria said abruptly shutting down the conversation before Rosalie could press any further. "You are giving me a headache, mama." Alexandria said rubbing her forehead and made a start to exit the room.
"Where are you going?" Rosalie asked. "I am going to take bath." Alexandria sighed and made her way upstairs. "We are not finished with this conversation Alexandria!" Rosalie shouted after her to which Alexandria just sighed.
Alexandria wished that she could confide in her mother about her love for Benedict and that's why she is not accepting any advances off of other gentlemen. However, she knew that her mother would just tell her to get over herself and marry a man who was more than willing to give Alexandria comforts that everyone desires.
Alexandria didn't want to be stuck in a marriage that she wasn't happy in or worse that she could barely tolerate the man she married. She thought it cruel to conceive children just because it was expected of her in a marriage even if she didn't love the man. Or for that matter raise her children and them growing up to have a skewed perception on what love was.
Alexandria was getting too caught up in her own head.
Deciding to take her time in the bath, Alexandria fully submerged herself in the water allowing her hair to soak completely. This was truly the only moments that Alexandria ever felt calm and like all her worries had disappeared. All of a sudden, Alexandria had felt her body being pulled from the water by a force.
"Emmy?! What ever are you doing!" Alexandria asked gasping as the surprise of being pulled out of the water had made Alexandria accidentally inhale some water. "I thought you were dead!" The younger Avalon said in a panic clutching her hand over her heart.
"Why would you think that?!" Alexandria asked in confusion moving to cover herself to preserve atleast some of her dignity.
"Well first off, You were lying completely underwater! and Secondly, your eyes were closed like that peaceful way people look like when they've passed." Emmeline said. "Well I am quite alright, now get out!" Alexandria exclaimed and Emmeline giggled running out of the room.
Alexandria could not wait until she was out of this house, she longed for peace. She was quite jealous of her older sister Marianne, who had moved out and now lives comfortably with her husband and daughter.
After being interrupted, Alexandria decided to get out the bath and get ready for bed. She put on a simple night gown and let her wet curls loose to dry rather than pinning them up.
Alexandria made her way to her father's drawing room to write seeing as she was not ready to sleep just yet. Her father had allowed Alexandria to use his drawing room for her to write her novels and poems in quiet.
Alexandria gently knocked on the door and made her way inside. "I was just coming in here to write." Alexandria said to her father who was currently looking at his bookshelves for a novel to read.
"I was just about to make my way up to bed anyway, just was finding a book to read." Thomas smiled. "I will help." Alexandria smiled and they perused the bookshelves together. "This one I read some time ago, It was fantastic." Alexandria said handing a book to her father who gratefully took it.
Alexandria had got her love for reading and writing off of her father, her mother disapproved of the career path that Alexandria wanted to go down but her father was quite proud.
