"The ballad played in the middle of one of the city's squares, while some people gathered around to listen to the strange song until the end. It wasn't the first time they had heard such music, but they were certainly captivated by the voice they heard in each of the words, better than any bard like no other.
In recent days, a series of bards across the city had begun singing this specific song. No one understood where it had come from or who this 'Dragonborn' was. When questioned about the song's origins, the bards only informed that they had been paid to play it after learning it from a strange man who taught them, paying them to perform it in their shows.
This ballad quickly took over King's Landing, echoing through every corner. No one found it odd at first—after all, most of the time, the song was played in the streets of Flea Bottom. However, when people began ignoring the urgency of rumors and the messages left all over the city did not cease, they started to truly listen to the song.
After more than a week, the song was finally mentioned to the king. The moment the song reached the part that spoke of the 'Dragonborn,' Robert exploded with rage, declaring that the Targaryens were behind it. To him, this only confirmed the theory that someone wanted to restore the rule of dragons, and the song was a direct mockery aimed at them.
Swiftly, the guards began arresting the bards who sang the song. But even then, there was always another who would take up the melody, further fascinating the population. Now, they knew that the song was forbidden by the king—the same king about whom rumors claimed was being deceived by the queen, who supposedly lay with her brother.
Moreover, the people were beginning to notice the weakening of the kingdom. Robert was bankrupting Westeros, and new rumors claimed that the fat king was living off tributes and exploiting the people. This began to create a terrible reputation for Robert, as it was obvious he continued holding tournaments recently while food was becoming increasingly expensive, along with taxes. Complaints spread throughout the city. By this point, the kingdom's financial crisis was no longer confined to the council.
"Quick! Find that bard!"
A group of city watch soldiers rushed toward the square, only to find a crowd gathered. The bard had vanished.
"Where is he?! Where is that wretch?!" Janos Slynt, the leader of the city watch, exclaimed, looking around in search of the one who had sung the song forbidden by the king.
