Elizabeth Taylor, Michael’s best friend was finally back in town.  She had been away for months overseas working on a few things.  Michael was so excited to know his confidant was back.  He invited her over to have lunch with him in his home right away to catch her up on everything.

“Hiiii!” she said excitedly, embracing him in a hug.

Michael grabbed her hand and leaned in to kiss her cheek.  “I missed you.”

“Oh, I missed you!”  She took a seat in the chair joining him at a glass table.  They were out on the patio.  “And I’ve missed so much!  I come back to town and you have a seven year old son?”

He laughed and shook his head yes.  “I have pictures.”

He handed her a stack of photos and she screeched in excitement.  “Ohhh, is this him?” she asked pointing to the little boy next to Michael in the picture.

“Yes that’s him.  These are all from his birthday party we had a few months ago for him…April 1st.”  He peeked over to look at them with her.

“I see a slight resemblance.  You did have DNA test though right?” she asked glancing at him.

Michael was shamefaced for a short second then he laughed.  “Um, no.  Why?”

Elizabeth looked up at him and placed the pictures flat on the table.  “Michael…” she whined.  “You have to get that taken care of before you start caring for the boy.”

“Well…”

“What?”  She could tell he’d done something already she wouldn’t approve of.

“Him and his mother are living in my condo right now.  I took out all of my stuff and let them have the place.”

Elizabeth was bug-eyed.  “Michael, no.  How are you sure this kid is yours?  Are you paying child support?”

“No,” he laughed.  “She doesn’t feel I need to.  I take responsibility for him.”

“Okay.  But…” Elizabeth picked up a picture of Micah and stared at it.  “…even if this beautiful child looks like you doesn’t mean he really came from you.  You should do it just to be on the safe side.”

“He acts like me, he’s a great artist like me, he’s very clever for his age and…I just know he’s mines. I don’t think it’s necessary.”

“It’s just procedure.  I can’t believe your lawyer’s didn’t make you take a test yet.”

Michael sighed.  “Well, I’ll see about getting it done.”

“Good.  Now what’s his name again?”

“Micah.  I call him little MJ though,” he chuckled.
