We reach the alter where I once stood before as a normal human. If I still had a pulse it would've racing by now or at least experienced some form of PTSD. I couldn't feel those feelings not even triggered by my own death here, just a calming thrum of the vibrations surrounding us.
'Weird'
He sets me on my feet and pops out the book from the air beside my head.
"Here, just use this for now and you can ask your servant if you have any other questions. She can also contact Zemi or myself if needed." He turns to being walking away but I stop him.
"How am I supposed to know what to do or what I'm even looking for?" He lets out an exasperated sigh and waves me off descending the stairs.
"I just told you look into the book or just ask Betty." His back gets farther away and then I can no longer see him thanks to the greenery.
"But I just asked you, you moron." I mumble in annoyance.
I see Betty not far away floating amongst the tree line.
"You heard him girl now come down here and tell me what I'm supposed to be doing!" I yell.
The little orb zooms around in circles stopping just short of my face almost colliding into me. I had my hand out in reflex thinking I might need to stop her.
"Wooh I thought he'd never leave." I shook my head in amusement finding it funny the more I saw of her personality the more I could see the resemblance to myself.
"Yes, yes now that he's gone help me out before he decides to comeback since we aren't doing anything."
"Technically speaking you shouldn't need to do anything. The worlds for the most part should be balanced as it is. Usually, the masters of this realm are to intervene only when the scales are tipped, and things must be righted back." I contemplated her words.
"Hm. Okay then what should I be looking for then?" I wasn't exactly submitting to his demands, but I had to figure out how things worked here if I wanted to go home.
"Use the book on the alter and you will see."
I opened the book expecting some big reveal only for nothing to happen other than the same floating scripture I'd already seen previously.
"You have to think about what you want to know." Betty again was trying to explain but to me it just sounded like more cryptic words.
I closed to help concentrate better and focused on what I needed to fix. The book became warm in my hands, making me open my eyes to see everything glowing. I could feel my very being pulled into the book and suddenly I was in another place observing an event. A baby was being born, what I assumed to be nurses or midwives were hurrying about in the room. The mother was bleeding out crying and asking for her baby to see her child. I could feel her lifeforce was beginning to dim. I wanted to help, but didn't know how.
'I have to save her.'
My mind felt a tug as if trying to show me something. Information began to flood my mind, and I easily found the solution to save the mother. Pouring a bit of my own energy into her lifeforce I could sense it beginning to ignite once more with life. Once the mother regained her color and I saw the results of my intervention I was back in my own body looking around the glowing alter with the book in my hands.
"How was it?" The orb zoomed around in excitement circling my head. I put out a hand to stop her from making me dizzy.
"It was...weird. I don't know how I did that." I rubbed my eyes looking back to Betty.
"Is it going to be like that every time?" I asked her.
"Hm. I'm not sure. Only you can do this job, not even the master has control over creation like you do." I'm baffled at what I am hearing.
"So, you mean to tell me I'm doing a job nobody else can do and also no one else knows how to do it?"
"Precisely." I smacked a hand to my head in astonishment.
"Nothing and no one make any sense here."
I tried to do whatever it was I did again, but it was like I was blocked off.
'Guess there's nothing else for me to do.'
I huffed to myself and decided best to spend my time going through the book to look back the section where the topic of portals caught my eye.
