The world around us became transparent and our bodies did as well. The closest feeling I could compare it to was floating like we were underwater. Strangely even though we could still feel our bodies like normal the weightless sensation allowed us to fly through as ghosts in this transparent world. Amias held me tight as we glided through over the clouds and down the buildings. I never thought I would ever get to have my moment of a being a Disney princess.
A large mansion with castle components of architecture soon came into view. The surrounding city had high walls and guards among the tops patrolling with archers at the ready. The Kingdom as the people had called themselves seemed relatively advanced when compared to our smaller village. However, in smaller areas slums and starvation could be noticeable on the outskirts of town. My heart went out to seeing such small children suffering, but I knew I couldn't stop at this moment considering our current goal.
'I might have to come back on my own or with help later again.'
I was not an altruistic person by nature, but no one can see starving or neglected kids and not want to help them. We reached the entrance to what I assumed to be the palace and made our way in search of the source. I couldn't help to notice that the farther we went in the darker the ambience felt. We went down an isolated stairwell into what I expected to be a dungeon only for it to be another floor of the basement. There were strange artifacts decorating the walls and parchments of papers with symbols I didn't recognize. Amias' body grew tenser, and waves of restlessness seemed to roll off him. His reaction was confusing considering he claimed to not know what it was that attacked me. A larger room with vaulted ceilings and runes carved in the borders greeted us at the end of our journey. A puzzling conversation was taking place, and the source of all this dark energy was in the center of it with a pacing man running his hands through his head.
"You said you were the only true god around, what do you mean you got pushed back by another force stronger than you!" The man was agitated scolding the entity that simply floated over the floor swaying in a gentle carefree manner.
"I never said other beings didn't exist only that I was the god strong enough to get you the throne." The figure of a spirit moved about as it spoke smokey and black like ink in appearance. He was a faceless man I could tell by his voice. Amias beside me was tense while violent waves were kept at bay by the barrier surrounding the two.
"Stop trying to speak in riddles like you're so cleaver just tell me is the other side a threat or can we possibly become allies?"
"Hmm." The shadow pondered.
"I am not entirely sure, maybe if I hadn't prodded too much to invoke some retaliation it could've been possible before. Now though it's probably more likely that they have been provoked into a danger." I could almost picture the thing nodding his head as he came to his own conclusions.
"Why did you instigate a reaction then!" The angry man grabbed a nearby candelabra and chucked it at the silhouette which it went right through.
"Because I was bored and when I went in search of something to do, I sensed in interesting presence." He shrugged his figure.
"So, what does that even matter if it won't provide anything for us since you've already ruined relations with that power?"
"What do you not understand? I have found a new power stronger than myself so must make it mine at once."
That was the last straw apparently for Amias as he charged through the barrier and attempted to attack the dark force physically. After the barrier shattered the two splits up while Amias simply glided through their bodies not even landing a hit. He couldn't directly interfere in-between time like I could which stopped him from destroying that being.
I could now tell what kind of personality we would be dealing with and already knew things would be difficult if left alone. The show was over, and we were thrust back into our realm on the altar.
