AUTHOR's NOTE;

THIS CHAPTER HAS NSFW CONTENT

(Nothing explicit but it's heavily implied)

Also.... Here's the thing.
The last chapter was taking too long. There's still too much that needs to happen and needs to be wrapped up for it to be done within the frame of one chapter.
So I had to add two more chapters. They are plotted out. And I'm slowly going about writing them.
I'm sorry to those who were hoping this was the last chapter. There's too much that needs to happen.
I hope you enjoy. Please be aware that there is sexual content in this chapter. Nothing explicit, but it is very heavily implied.

Please enjoy the chapter, let me know your thoughts. I love reading the comments.

(READ THE NOTE!! I KNOW SOME YOU SKIPPED IT! IT TAKES 4 SECONDS.)

"I can't believe you."

"Missy, it had to be done."

"They were sixteen! They were stupids kids!"

"We had our orders-"

"Oh, don't you give me that crap. None of you are mindless soldiers and we all know that Very well, don't insult my intelligence."

"Mallory."

"What!?"

"We had orders."

"I already said-"

"We can't fight direct orders. It's one of the downsides. We can find loopholes or bend it a bit if it's vague. But Max said, per-baitum that "They are to be disposed of". He didn't say "get rid of them", he didn't say "take care of them", he didn't say "make sure this doesn't happen again". He said, word for word "Dispose of them"." David came forward to grip her hands and clenched his fists with a sigh when she jerked her hands away with an angry glare.

"We couldn't fight direct orders Mallory. And they already got too close to exposing us.... They had to go."

Mallory shook her head. A small part of her understood that the world these boys lived in was Kill or be Killed. Non-human and predatory, they did what they needed to in order to survive and protect one another. And after feeling it herself, Mallory knew the urges to protect, safeguard and defend were powerful.

But...

"... But fire?" Her voice broke a bit. "You burned them? Surely there was a kinder way..."

Marko stepped forward hesitantly, still a bit sheepish from being on the receiving end of her anger before David showed up and made himself her focus. "We couldn't risk anything being found on the remains..."

Mallory shook her head. "They'll be ashes, surrounded by that much paper and electricity... it'll burn so hot, what will their family bury?"

She hugged herself. A shallow attempt to ground herself as her mind once again clicked into place what type of people she had gotten herself involved with. "There... there were other paths. We could've spoken about it... I would've helped. This... this wasn't necessary, they were just kids. We could've chosen a kinder way..."

Arms encircling her made her gasp as she looked up to see Dwayne's tall frame holding her. His morose eyes, dark as they gently took her in. His voice was as reasonable as ever. "We didn't want you near them after what happened."

Mallory tried to find the strength to push him away but simply jerking away as she had with David proved to be futile. Dwayne held on tight, kept her close to him. His expression even and held an understanding that made her furious. "Let go of me, that wasn't your call to make. I'm not a child. If I'm your pack mate like you keep saying, then treat me like one."
