"So this was the location of your mission" Sasuke said in an even voice. His calm demeanour was starting to frustrate Sakura as she held him trapped against the wall. She pushed down with more force against his neck and her eyes watched the small trail of blood flow down from his lips, staining his chin.
"You're not supposed to be here, Sasuke-kun" Sakura said in a hushed voice, looking up to glare at the Uchiha.
Sasuke smirked after the moment she spoke, confusing her. "During the time at the forest... you didn't have an escort with you when we met" he stated, raising his brow at her. Sakura grit her teeth, worried about what the Uchiha was going to say next.
"It seems you were lost, but I'm not surprised" Sasuke continued, his words mentally throwing Sakura off-balance.
This whole situation had become crazy. Sakura had walked away from Sasuke, only a few hours ago, not expecting to see him until their long awaited battle, but it seemed like nothing was going to plan. In their present situation, it was not that Sakura wasn't glad to see Sasuke, she was honestly, quite thrilled, her heart beating fast from the rush.
However, she didn't exactly want to make it so obvious; Haruno Sakura had some pride too. Not to mention this wasn't the time or the place for Sasuke to be sneaking up on her in alleyways. She moved her face slightly more forward, hoping to be somewhat intimidating as she glowered. "You're not supposed to be here Sasuke-kun so leave, now!"
Sasuke's smirk widened, making Sakura frown. It seemed as though the Uchiha really did not care that he was in a newly found village, even though he could be caught at any minute due to his title of rogue ninja; Sakura could only breathe out in frustration.
Especially since Sasuke was smirking at her like that, making it quite difficult to think of anything else. She didn't move away though, her arm firmly against his neck; she needed to persuade him to leave the village. That is, if the Uchiha would listen to her, which she doubted quite strongly, but there really was no harm in trying.
Just when she was about to ask her first question, she felt Sasuke's hands on her waist, and she was spun around, her back pressed against the wall. A small gasp escaped from her mouth and the sudden move had caused Sakura's arm to fall around the Uchiha's neck.
"Hn" Sasuke grunted at her as he grabbed her wrist and removed her arm from around his neck. He still held on after, his grip gentle.
Sakura saw that his gaze was on their hands, and after a few seconds, he looked back up at her. She audibly huffed and tried to push herself off the wall, yet Sasuke didn't let her, pushing her back against the wall while using the wrist he was holding to pull up her arm and place it near her neck. Sakura was trapped the same way she had trapped Sasuke.
She breathed out irritably, not bothering to make the effort of struggle; they would be here all night if she did. "What do you want Sasuke-kun?" Sakura questioned wearily.
At that moment, a dear image of her team flashed up inside her mind and Sakura felt the guilt eat away at her, and it was incredibly pungent. Here she was with Sasuke, for the second time, without informing her team about their previous meeting. This was betrayal. Sakura moved her head to the side and averted her gaze.
Sasuke hadn't answered her question yet, and instead, the sounds of their breathing filled the air. Sakura continued to avert her gaze even through the silence.
After a moment she felt Sasuke move away from her as he let go of her wrist. She heard his footsteps, whispers against the solid ground, walk away. Sakura quickly moved her eyes to Sasuke, her upper-body sub-consciously moving outwards towards him.
Sasuke's back was facing her as he walked to the opposite wall of the dark alleyway, turning when he reached it to lean against the wall, his position parallel to hers. His arms lay by his side and his right foot was pushed back against the wall. "You're going to help me, Sakura" the Uchiha finally said.
She was not expecting that at all. Sakura frowned, "Why are you suddenly asking for my help?"
"Your help will make it easier to take what I want from this village" Sasuke answered straightforwardly. Sakura was baffled for only a moment, before making a decision. She shook her head and pushed off from the wall to walk away.
She wasn't planning on letting this new village or it's people suffer from something so selfish. She knew if anything was taken by force, it would affect the village's new beginning. "You have no choice, Sakura" Sasuke suddenly said, just as she was about to walk away.
"I do have a choice, Sasuke-kun... and I choose not to help you" Sakura said firmly, but even she could hear the soft amount of sadness laced in her tone. The reason for her sadness, she did not know, but it was certainly linked to the outcome of Sasuke's visit.
It may have been because she had to work against the person she loved, rather than beside him. However, this was the only way she could keep all the people around her safe. She couldn't take the risk of agreeing to Sasuke's terms without keeping in mind of how the village, its people and her team would be affected.
Sakura heard Sasuke's sandals scuffle against the ground as he walked to position himself in front of her; she refused to look at him. It was as if Sasuke could read her mind, because the next words he spoke shocked her immensely.
"I won't hurt anyone and I won't make you hurt anyone either." Sakura remained silent, unable to respond. After a moment, Sasuke spoke again.
"...Trust me Sakura" Sasuke said almost hesitantly, like he was worried about how she might react. Sakura was lost for words, she couldn't think of what to say next. She turned her gaze to watch his expression.
There was an emotion in Sasuke's eyes, but Sakura couldn't figure out the hidden meaning behind that emotion. They shone so brightly, two obsidian gems gleaming even against the darkness of night. But this didn't feel right. Even though Sakura wanted to trust Sasuke, there was a dark feeling inside of her that made her re-think.
Before she knew it, a laugh escaped her lips. She wasn't planning on letting that happen, but it escaped so suddenly, surprising her. Sakura's shoulders shook gently as she continued to laugh. But it wasn't an amused kind of laughter; it was filled with bitterness instead. Sakura turned her body away from the Uchiha, but then she felt his hand grab her arm tightly. Sakura felt herself being forcefully pulled forward, her laughter suddenly stopping.
Her body was against Sasukes, his face so close to hers, his lips scowling at her, his brows slightly furrowed, his onyx gaze digging through her and stealing her breath away. "There is no time to be laughing Sakura" Sasuke growled at her, throwing down her arm. Sakura smiled bitterly. "All you do is refuse everything I ask of you Sasuke-kun, so tell me why I shouldn't refuse this?" Sakura spoke slowly, her voice shaking.
Sakura's bitter smile remained on her lips. Sasuke didn't speak, he just stared at her. Sakura stared back while the lump in her throat made it hard for her to breathe. Sasuke suddenly moved away and walked towards the entrance of the alleyway. His footsteps were now heavier than before, scowls against the cold pavement. He was leaving.
Sakura looked towards the Uchiha with sadness and felt as though Sasuke's back was cursing at her as he walked further and further away. She had already made her decision but that didn't stop her from feeling the sudden bullet of regret piercing into her. Maybe she made a mistake? Was refusing Sasuke the right decision after all?
Questions poured themselves into her mind, before slowly forming into plan number deux, which would hopefully go better than her former plan. Sakura couldn't help but smile; it formed so suddenly but this plan would change everything. It would be unforgettable.
