"We will soon be setting you two on a date." Director Evelyn Choi told me as if it was spare change, simple information. "We cannot ignore the supporters any longer." She added, my shock intensified.
"A date?—me with him?" I sputtered out, my manicured finger pointed at Silas who sat calmly at the head of the table. "Already?"
For what had I been working my ass off to ignore him if only to be on a date with him in a few days? I thought I at least had a week or two before this happened.
And ... I couldn't avoid him properly on a date.
Not waiting for Choi's answer, I shifted my attention towards Silas. He was still silent, watching me lose my mind in the matter of seconds into knowing this decision.
"You said it was postponed." I remarked.
He nodded, humming absentmindedly. No answer.
"Silas." I exasperatedly let out.
He leaned back in his chair, comfortable it seems, his hands intertwined over his stomach. By the pointed look he sent me, he was no longer on my side in the matter. Hell, I did not know what he was thinking.
My heart wanted to escape the confines of my own ribs at this news. Silas was fine. Maybe even better than fine.
"It was inevitable," he began. "Was it not in Julian's interest for me to have an increase in exposure? Then wouldn't this be the best case scenario?"
He had a point. A pretty good damn point.
"But– you– what?!" My head hurt to say the least.
Like the sly man he was, Silas' mouth curved into a small smirk. It was gone before I knew it but it was there.
Gosh, he was annoying sometimes. Too everything sometimes.
I hated it.
"The date is planned to be tomorrow at 6pm at The Rouge. This is all thanks to Vivienne for finally making space in his schedule." Director Choi said, swiping her finger across her tablet. "Next week however will be clear of all filming as you two will be abroad."
Normally I would beam at the praise. I was rather good at my job.
But now? I wanted to punch myself in the gut for doing what my job description asked me to do.
Never would have thought my skills would backfire.
And wait ... tomorrow?!
I should've moved up that cruise visit to this week.
"That will be all for now. I will see you both tomorrow." Taking her handbag, Choi excused herself with a polite nod.
