"This is goodbye, Vivienne." Mikey said, his lips turned into a downwards smile.
Silas and I were about to board off the cruise but he had stopped us one last time. Silas didn't bother to exchange any words and stayed in the background.
"Unfortunately, Mikey." My ass, Vivi.
He didn't seem particularly sad but there was a certain glint in his eyes that showed each time he glanced to my right at Silas. I was sure he could also feel the laser of Silas' stare at our interaction.
I do not think Michael expected our partnership with him to end so fast. Hell, I suppose no one did.
Catching the action of his arms opening for a hug, my back instantly stiffened. My eyes fluttered closed, hoping the action would make it end quicker.
This is what I got for being nice to him. All I needed to do was accept his hug and never need to interact with him again.
Okay, so what if I am a bit happy this partnership is over.
Rather than Michael's arms around me, in seconds, Silas stepped between us and held my shoulder to lightly push me forwards towards the exit.
Thank God! My chest felt lighter at the given escape. Instead of turning around, I decided to keep on walking and eventually heard footsteps following behind me.
"Okay... now what was that all about?" I asked. He didn't need to do that.
"The driver should be here. We needed to go." He answered simply, his gaze ahead already beelining for the matt-black car parked right at the side of the road.
"Oh." I said. I didn't know what surprised me more. That he remembered all the details I shared with him before leaving. Or that I even had the audacity to think it had something related to Michael's hug. Was I sick in the head to be disappointed?
"Right. Makes sense."
He took a brief look at me, his attention aimed downwards, locked with my eyes. "I am also rather impatient sometimes."
My pulse skipped. Impatient? I bent down to enter the car as he opened the door for me. The driver already stood at the other side open for Silas.
Waiting for him to step inside, I finally asked. "With?"
"With decisions." He shot me a certain look after he stepped inside the car.
That one was definitely aimed at me. Not again. Geez, this man was shady sometimes.
"I have already apologised a hundred times." I sighed, my hands thrown up in exasperation as I crossed my body in such a way, I could look at him properly. "Do you want me to kiss your booboo better or something?"
