A Cold Night

"Well are you coming or not, Dani?" Luke called impatiently from outside of the apartment.
I gave him an exaggerated sigh before I threw my phone and wallet into a little black handbag. It was slightly warmer today, which I decided to take advantage of. I was wearing a black high waisted skirt and a pastel pink cropped tank that just barely showed and inch of my torso.
Luke ruffled up his hair with his hand before biting down on his lip ring and complaining about how long I took when really it was his fault that we were running late. He's the one who told me there was no rush.
"The boys aren't going to care if we show up five minutes later than we said we would," I started defensively.
"I know, I just hate being late. Why do you even put on makeup anyway? It takes too long and you're perfectly fine without it."
"Yeah but I look bangin' with it," I laughed.
He finally gave up the sour attitude and let the smile on his face resurface. We both hopped into his car and clicked in before he pulled out of the driveway.
"Are you gonna tell me where we're going yet?" I asked.
Luke didn't look at me but I could still see the sheer pleasure in the way his eyes lit up. He absolutely loved to torment me.
"Luke come on it can't be that great or you wouldn't be able to keep it a secret," I continued. I knew that I could get him to crack if I kept trying.
He shook his head stubbornly and turned off at the street Calum lived on so that we could pick him up on the way to wherever they were taking me.
"Hello there," Calum said brightly, patting the both of us on the shoulder before sitting in the seat behind mine.
"Hey Calum, Luke was just telling me about the place we're going to, it sounds really great," I said, shooting Luke a sly smile.
Before Luke could tell Calum not to say anything Calum had rubbed his stomach and leaned back in his seat saying, "oh yeah, Napoli's is our favorite place to go. I can never get enough of their pizza."
"Ha!" I chortled at Luke, who had planted his hand in his face in disappointment.
Calum appeared to be a mixture of confused and amused at the same time but just shrugged it off. Luke smiled at me appreciatively as if he were impressed with my ability to find out literally anything I set myself to know.

After picking Michael and Ashton up from work at the record store Luke's car was full and we were all running on empty. Michael's tummy grumbled angrily and it made the rest of us laugh so much that for the remainder of the car ride we exaggeratedly imitated the sound it made.
Ten minutes of embarrassing Michael later, Luke pulled in to the parking lot of a restaurant called Via Napoli's pizzeria. Ashton "ta da'd" as we entered the restaurant and the smell of fresh basil and tomato sauce filled our nostrils. If heaven were a place on earth, I might just dare to say it was here.
Instead of ordering individually we decided to order one very large pizza divided into three sections of separate toppings. I was sitting in between Michael and Luke before Luke got a phone call from Avery and excused himself. Calum stole his seat to sit next to me and asked me how I liked the pizza.
"It's great," I grinned, "I'm glad you guys brought me here."
Michael was a little more quiet than usual so I decided to strike up a conversation with him.
"What about you, Mikey, enjoying the food?"
He looked up at me happily, "more than ever. I'm glad we could take you here too. It's always been a favorite of ours. We've never brought anyone else before."
My eyes widened, "really? I'm the first person you've had tag along?"
Michael nodded.
"Luke wanted to bring Avery with us a few months ago but she's not cool enough to join the dream team for dinner," Ashton chuckled, I couldn't tell if he was being serious or not.
"Well I'm glad the four of you have unanimously deemed me worthy," I grinned.
"You're one of us now, Dani," Michael said sweetly.
"You're too cute, Michael," I commented, making him hide his face and flush a soft pink.
Luke came back to our table and slipped his phone into his back pocket.
"Sorry guys," he started guiltily, "Avery wants to hang out and you know how she gets when I say no."
I raised my eyebrows and tapped my fingers on the table in annoyance.
"Duty calls," Ashton said, saluting Luke.
"I'll meet you guys at Michael's place later, yeah?"
"Sounds good to me," Michael said.
"Catch you later," Luke hovered over us before leaving the restaurant and driving away.
