Chapter 37

“I swear this will be temporary.” I said as Max brings in my last box.

“Nonsense, I don’t use it since I’m still on campus. So consider the place yours.” Said Max as he swipes the sweat off his forehead with his forearm. Standing there Max looked at the scattered boxes on the floor as he said, “You know I don’t remember you packing this much when we left home.”

“That’s because you left early that morning for that frat meeting, leaving me to pack my car myself.” I said as I placed my purse on the couch.

“Oh yeah that’s when we got our assigned roommates for the semester.”

Nodding I walked to the kitchen as I started putting the groceries up, “It feels like it was just yesterday when we started school. I can’t believe 4 months already passed.”

Max flops down on the couch as he says, “Yeah I know right. So much has happened, I feel like we haven’t really spent time together like we use to. With me being on runs left and right.”

“Yeah I know, I still can’t believe I didn’t know about your ‘job’ for almost 4 years. Crazy since we were always with each other.”

“Yeah when we started freshman year that’s when I started taking the training classes off campus. Things weren't as serious then, they didn’t start getting this serious until this past year.”

Placing the cans into the counter I said, “I see that, but I’ve had Harry to keep me company.”

“Yeah I know. It's sad to know that you’ve replaced me. I thought I was your only best friend.”

I laughed, “I had to have a backup since you were always MIA, Harry just was lucky that he popped up when I placed my best friend wanted ad.”

Max laughs, “Well I’m glad he stays with you when I’m gone, he’s a cool dude.”

I nodded, “The coolest.”

----------------------------

After Max helped me clean up the apartment, he also helped me unpack. Walking through the apartment I noticed that it was something similar to Niall’s. It was just located on the opposite side of town, and it was closer to the UNI. The only difference was that it didn’t have a kitchen like Niall’s, but Max didn’t cook so it was perfect for him, it just sucked for me.

“When did you buy this place again?” I asked as I went from room to room.

“In June before school started. I just never got to stay in here.” Said Max as he went through the CD’s on the entertainment stand.

“So you bought an apartment that you never used? Why?”

Max back was still to me as he says, “Boss man said we needed an off campus spot in different areas not too far, but close.”

“You guys keep talking about this ‘Boss man’ but I still don’t know he is.”

“You will one day.”

“When?”

“Soon.”

Rolling my eyes I said, “Yeah whatever.” Max looks back and smiles at me as he turns back around sitting the down the CD’s. Walking back into the living I leaned against the table as I said, “Are the beds new?”

Max nods, “Yup they never been slept in.” Crossing his arms he asks, “So which room are you taking?”

“The master of course.”
