Chapter 96

It’s been 9 days since Niall was taken, 7 days since I talked to the boys, and 4 days since Max was released.

Getting up at 5am I threw on my joggers, jumper, and running shoes as I walked out the room. All the guys were sleep as I crept to Max’s room peeping through his door. Max laid there with a bandage around the side of his chest, as the blanket cascaded around his waist, hugging his hips. Max was still in a pain, even though he denied it constantly. The doctor had told him that he wanted him to stay there for observation for at least 2 weeks, but when Harry and Liam called and said that I was refusing to eat, and refusing to come out of my room, he signed himself out and came back to the warehouse.

Max didn’t want me obsessing over where Niall was. He said that he and the boys had everything under control. But how could that be possible when, they don’t know where Niall is, nor do they have any clue were to start. As much as I tried, my mind wouldn’t stop images from when Josh took me, circled constantly around my thoughts whenever Niall popped in my mind. The shocking, the drugging, the torture and the fighting. Josh went easy on me since I was a girl but with Niall, being as he went through so much and endured so much in his past, there was no telling what pain Josh was inflecting on him.

Setting out of the warehouse I began jogging down the street. I never had a destination when I ran, there was no stop mark, no cool down period. When I ran, I just ran. I ran till I couldn’t feel my legs, I ran till my feet were sore, till it was hard for me to breath. I didn’t want to think about anything, I didn’t want to feel nothing and with the boys on crazy watch, no alcohol was allowed in the warehouse because Max feared I would go on a bender and try to drink away the pain. This was probably true.

Running until my legs felt wobbly, I came to a stop at the top of a cliff, which was on a trail that looked over the small town we were near. England is a beautiful place and I loved it here. Collapsing on the ground I took a long drink of my water as I laid back staring up at the grey sky as soft drips of water began to fall. Closing my eyes I took in a deep breath, taking in the smell of the now starting rain, as I began to feel my heart beating hard and fast as if it was going to jump out of my chest.

“You know, you’re supposed to cool down first before you just lay down like that.” says a voice as footsteps approach.

Turning my head to my left, I looked up to see Harry standing there wearing a snapback, a long sleeve shirt, and jeans.

“I heard,” he says as he walks closer to me, pushing his hands into his pocket, “That if you do that you can stop your heart and it could kill you.”

“Oh.” I say, dully, looking back up at the sky. “How did you find me?” I ask.

“I was outback when I heard you leave. Thought I’d follow to see where you were headed.”

“Exciting.” I say as I closed my eyes, letting the light rainfall fall upon me to cool me down.

“Melly are you upset with me or something?”

“What would make you think that I’m upset with you?”

“I don’t know. Maybe because you haven’t talked to any of us in days.”

I didn’t respond.

“Melly.” Harry called.

“Yes.” I say.

“Come with me?”

“Where?” I asked opening my eyes as I looked at him.

“Just come with me, please.” He pleaded.
