Chapter 24

It took me damn there a few days to finally get past the inscriptions that were blocking me from accessing the files that I copied from the Memory card. I had to really settle down and work getting into the files and it wasn’t any help that Niall was forever home and I when I wanted to try and hop on my computer he would start asking 101 different questions about any and everything that would come to his mind. “Why is a Marshmallow, marshy? Do males have bones in their junk? What makes fire? How do you make enchiladas?” I swear I wanted to punch him in his head.

After cracking into his files all it had was a bunch of blueprints and addresses with names. I didn’t understand why this was in a student file, but it was. Scanning the pages I came across an address with 3 numbers next to it. Showering I changed into some faded ripped blue jeans, black toms, a long sleeve black and grey shirt, as I grabbed my backpack and books and headed to the library to get out of the house.

Once there I searched the computers and books to see if the address was anything listed. All I found was an article about a bar fight that happen 2 summers ago. I figured it was nothing and just decided to give up on digging into Niall’s past and I started to do some homework.

--------------------

I worked on my homework till about 4pm. Getting up I checked out a few books for class and started to head out the library when a guy ran straight into me making me drop my books. “Hey watch it!” I snapped as I bend down and picked up my books.

“Sorry about that, I didn’t see you.” said a deep voice as they knelt down and helped grab my books.

The guy had handed me my last book as I looked up and into warm brown eyes that reminded me strangely of wood. “Thank you.” I said taking the book as I stood.

“No problem.” Said the guy as he looked me up and down sticking his hand out to me as he said, “I’m Tyler.”

Taking his hand I said, “Melissa.”

“Nice to meet you Melissa. You go to school here?”

I nodded and adjusted my backpack on my shoulder, “Yeah don’t you?”

The guy shook his head, “No I’m actually just looking for a friend of mine.”

I nodded and said, “Oh that’s cool.” I stood there for a second as I glanced at my watch, “I hope you find your friend, I should get going.”

Smiling I started to head towards my car when the guy stopped me and said, “I’m only in town for the night and my friend has to work so I was wondering, would you like to grab a drink or something?”

I looked at the guy, “I-I don’t know.”

“Come on, it’s just a drink, all we’ll do is shoot some pool and I’ll take you right back home if you like. What do you say?”

I looked at the guy and at my car and said, “Sure where did you have in mind?”

The guy ran his hand over his chin and said, “I think there’s a pool hall off the 75 freeway. I think it’s called ‘The Din’ have you heard of it?”

I nodded, “Yeah I think so.”

“Great I’ll meet you there about 7:30ish?”

I smiled, “Sounds great.” The guy smiled as he stuck his hands in his pocket and turned and walked away. Climbing into the car I drove home to see Niall car was in the driveway.

--------------------

“Hey I’m back!” I yelled as I walked in tossing my backpack on the couch. I noticed smoke was coming out the kitchen as Niall yelled, “Help!” running around the corner I stop at the kitchen to see Niall standing shirtless covered in flour from head to toe as a skillet smoked on the stove behind him.
